The Devil's Nest, Wednesday Evening

So apparently the ski track from last week was now a ski resort that was slowly growing over Lucifer's piano, beginning to resemble a miniature Alps sort of situation. Octavia was choosing to let it be, even as she wondered how it was going to go over with Lucifer.

"What's your policy on my bringing an animal in here?" asked Irene, who was clearly aiming for forgiveness rather than permission given the twitchy-nosed, flop-eared rabbit in the crook of her arm as she approached the bar. "And does it matter if she's normally not a rabbit?"

"If she gets into any trouble, you're responsible," Octavia replied, with barely a glance at the rabbit in question.

This was Fandom, after all, and she'd been here for a decent chunk of her life.

"Honestly, that's not exactly abnormal even when she's not a rabbit," Irene replied with a raised brow and a lifted pair of fingers Tiny's way. "Martini with a twist, darling. And how are you, Octavia?"

"Fine."

It was always going to be that. However, sometimes the stars (and company, perhaps) were just right and she managed more than that. So: "I gave out some emergency kits at the flea market thing, last weekend." That was the biggest news, yes. "Not surprised I didn't spot you there."

Lucifer hadn't gone, either.

"Not really my scene," Irene noted, agreeing with that narrative. "Though Amaya got some new ideas out of how she didn't make many sales, she was telling me, so I do sort of regret not turning up. How'd your emergency kits do?"

That was an interesting -- and sort of...thoughtful -- thing to be handing out, Octavia, good for you.

"Well, they were free," Octavia replied, shrugging a little. "So, they did okay? Managed to get people to take them."

"Which sounds like it was the goal, if they were free," Irene observed. "And it sounds like they might have been quite timely. You weren't there for the fire, were you?"

"No."

And that was probably in everyone's best interest, judging by how Octavia's posture stiffened just a little bit, there.

"I don't think they were as helpful as they could've been for that, either."

"Well, you couldn't have predicted that would happen," Irene pointed out, clocking that posture change and gentling her tone slightly in response. "Unless you've got psychic abilities and I've not known this whole time."

If so: congratulations on keeping that under wraps, Octavia!

There was already so much actually under wraps.

Including fire-starting.

Octavia was not thinking about that right now. Of course not. "No," she said. "No, I don't. But it's something to think about if I make more of them."

It's clean and fully operational again.

Also likely clean and operational.

This week is has been very 'hurry up and wait' and it is making me tired. *flops over*
