Luke's Diner; Tuesday [04/04].
Ignis was really hoping that, when he got back home after his shift at the diner today, Gladio would be back to himself again. Mostly just because he truly was a dull and exceptionally boring roommate at a potted plant, but also because he might feel a little bit awkward about it, now that it seemed he was planning the specials board around the influx of edible flowers.
Waste not, want not, after all, especially since he didn't exactly have to worry about not being able to look his roommate in the eye afterwards.
And, to the question apparently on all his coworkers' minds that day?
"Romaine, actually," Ignis informed them. "Gladiolus tastes quite a bit like romaine lettuce, and sometimes chestnuts, depending on the preparation, and no, I don't know that from eating my roommate."
The kitchen staff didn't look convinced, but Ignis had no way of knowing that. He could, however, assure everyone that there were no gladiolus on the menu today, at least.
Today's Specials
Wok-tossed Beef with Edible Flowers
Sorrel Caesar Salad with Strawberries
Vanilla Bean Chamomile Cake
Luke's is open!

Or rather, don’t guess, Ignis, because he was announcing himself with an “Afternoon, Mr. Scientia.”

"Afternoon, Detective," Ignis answered back with a nod of greeting his way. "And a good one, I hope, though that greeting certainly gives it room to sway either way."

"One could argue," and of course Ignis would, "that it starting at all immediately puts it in the good category, though I'm sure some poor sod could make a compelling case against that. And I'm doing well enough; rather tired of my roommate being a plant, but these things usually are just a matter of time. What can we get for you today?"

(A switcheroo had been attempted with the bread, but that was cute, more than anything, that they thought that would throw him off, especially with a bread as notable as sourdough).
So the sandwich didn't take long, and a slice from the cake was soon to follow.
"And the salad," he then added thoughtfully, "is a rather refreshing take on the expected Caesar; I rather like it, myself, and find it quite light, so if you do find yourself a little more adventurous, it does come highly recommended."
He was the mind behind it, though, so that did make him a bit biased, perhaps.

“Um … hi Ignis,” he said awkwardly, realising that he really had no idea what he was even going to say.
Maybe Ignis already knew from radio that he was leaving?

So this turn of events might actually save him the trouble, which would always be somewhat appreciated.
"Shane," he greeted him with a nod as he made his way over. "Hello. Come in for a bite to eat, have you?"

Not that his fridge was that full or anything to start with but Goose had definitely been relying on leftovers more.

"Let me go put in the order for beef," he added with a nod, "and I'll be back shortly with the salad."
And since none of the kitchen staff had messed with his mise en place that day (yet), he truly was back with it in a few moments, setting it down with a prompting, "And to drink?"

Goose smiled as he waited for Ignis to come back and then he considered what drink he wanted.
“I’ll think I’ll have a lemonade please,” Goose said after he went through a few choices of what he wanted

He almost went ahead and poured a coffee for Marc, but instead just paused at the pot and asked, "Coffee?"

Get him being funny.
no subject
"Certainly not," he assured him. "Would you like to give it a try? We can even shirk the edible flowers if you find they're a bit too offensive to the meatiness of it all."
Sorry, Marc. Blame a decade and a half of fighting a losing battle with Eos' pickiest eater for that one.

Marc looked at the specials, noted that the dessert was cake, and instead went with, " - slice of pie if you've got it. Apple or something."
Maybe even cherry, to go with the good coffee.

And, since he said either was fine, of course Ignis would be going for the healthier option of the whole wheat, and he brought it out with the pie, and he felt he'd done a pretty good job of placing it as directly in front of Marc as he could, but, well, he was just sort of guessing, albeit in an educated way.
"Bon appétit," he offered. "Do say the word if there's anything else you may need."

His "roommate" shared his body but that was a whole other deal.
"So they got hit by that wave of weird shit last week?" Marc asked. Had he ever been told that Ignis and Gladio were roommates, possibly by Gladio himself? Maybe. Did Marc bother to retain that information? Nope.

And if he'd known about Prompto being back to himself again already this morning, he'd have had better hopes for Gladio not too far behind.
"I have, thankfully, escaped its influence..." He took a moment to rap his knuckles against the the surface in front of him. "...so far. Have you had the distinct pleasure yet?"
no subject
Not that Marc had the pleasure of meeting koala Stark but he still knew it was a thing that happened.
no subject
Both events that made him increasingly glad that Gladio was just...a plant, and Prompto seemed to find someone else to take care of him when he went canine.
no subject
Given Marc's history that might have been an incorrect assumption.
