Dinosaurs 101- Community Center - Wednesday
"Today's dino carries on a theme from our previous fellow," Connor said as he started the class that morning. " The Iguanodon was an interesting dinosaur who, like the Lambiasours in last week's class, is believed to have been able to walk on four and two legs quite easily. Most of the fossils found for Iguanodon put it at around 10m in length and around 4000kg in weight. It had teeth made for chewing leaves and bark and a horn beak for stripping vegetation. In 1825 Iguanodon became the second species to be described scientifically as a dinosaur, the first having been Megalosaurus. The dinosaur’s discoverer, the English physician Gideon Mantell, did make some mistakes with the first skeleton recreation, putting the spiked thumb on the creature's nose like a horn."
Connor looked over at Cutter and nodded for him to add what he wanted to the lecture.
“The Iguanodon was found in a vast variety of different locations ranging from Europe to Asia,’ Cutter continued with the lecture, he was feeling rather proud seeing Connor become more confident in taking over the class and running the lectures, “it was a herbivore who lived in the late Jurassic and early Cretaceous periods, the fossil remains have been found in groups and this suggests that it was a herd animal,” he nodded back over to Connor so that he could finish up the lecture.
Connor grinned and handed over the stack of papers to Cutter as he finished up. "For the rest of the period you can start on the worksheets and of course, Professor Cutter and I are here if you need us for anything."
