Devil's Nest | Thursday Evening

Annie had dragged out every standing fan she could, when she came in tonight and the place felt weirdly...humid.

It wasn't, like, this muggy outside -- unless she'd forgotten, and this was just a taste of what she'd have to endure come July. It really was a puzzle, unless you were the kind of person who really thought a liiiittle harder about what might have happened to Tiny's ski chalet, and where the subsequent melt might have gone.

In any case, it was really giving Annie a little preview of summer in a way she did not care for, and she was once more dressed in a comfy T-shirt that neither strained against her small but noticeable bump, nor did anything to hide it.

Eric is probably safe both from humidity and fans back here.

The fact that I dated two of these threads 4/13/22 before I caught it probably says everything it needs to about where my brain's been, oof.

The fans were getting a little bit more than your basic speculative look out of Gladio that evening, but he had to admit, he did appreciate the little extra boost they were giving to his hair when he came in.

"Annie," he greeted, with the customary nod as he settled into his (sigh) usual spot at the bar.

Maybe they could do a spontaneous photoshoot! Annie was really good at mood lighting.

"I think there's a spill or something in here," Annie told him, gesturing to the fans. "Hi, Gladio. How's it going?"

She actually had some idea of how it was going, given her conversation with Summer yesterday, but she was gonna leave it up to him to bring up if he wanted to.

The suggestion of a spill sent Gladio's eyes suspiciously toward Tiny, especially since, well, before Annie said that, he had his own (admittedly probably wrong) speculations about the purpose of the fans that had to do more with that bump under her t-shirt, but he was gonna leave it up to her to bring that up if she wanted, because he was not an idiot.

So for now, there was just a general shrug of his shoulders and the most basic of all answers to a question like that. "It's going."

Just, you know, not exactly in the direction he'd like it to be.

"Daiquiri sounds good, though."

Honestly, the fans weren't going unappreciated in that regard. Again, Annie was getting a little preview of how much fun her whoooole summer was going to be.

"I'm on it," Annie assured him, already grabbing the ice scoop. "Things are good at the gym? I gotta try to make it in on a Tuesday, one of these days."

“Oof,” Watts said, as he was hit by the wall of humidity when he stepped inside. “Good evening, Annie.”

"Maybe if you like crowds, sure," Gladio said with a faint grin. "A lot quieter, on the other days."

For some weird, inexplicable reason.

"But, yeah, things are going well. Place pretty much takes care of itself; all I do is keep an eye out for broken equipment, really. Heard you guys moved, though? How's that going?"

"I have to think stuff breaks more around here than your average gym," Annie noted, "considering we have super-strong types and stuff running around. And the move went okay! We're going to be unpacking forever, and we're still trying to figure out how we want to decorate one of the rooms, but it's good."

Ninja animals was a pretty solid theme for that room, though.

"You feel it too?" Annie checked, eyes widening at that 'oof.' "It's not just my hormones? Thank God, I was getting worried. Hi, Llewellyn."

She had almost seven more months to go, and 'imaginary humidity' hadn't been explicitly on her list of symptoms to expect.

"Oh, yeah?" asked Gladio, who liked to think he could spot a set-up just as well as he could spot a wonky treadmill or a punching bag starting to strain its seams a bit too much. "Which room?"

He could be wrong, though! Maybe they were just really struggling how to figure out how to decorate a kitchen around all those blenders.

It was hard to set up a kitchen around an excess of at least four blenders. Especially since Annie hadn't even decided which one she liked the most and wanted to keep on the counter!

"The nursery," she answered with a slightly-shy smile, piling strawberries into the (bar's) blender. Even if that had been a fairly obvious little tee-up, it was still kind of novel to tell anyone. "We're expecting twins."

“I certainly do,” Watts confirmed. There was a possibility he might even lose a layer by the end of the night, not to mention what was bound to happen to his curls. “And I suppose I have something of an answer for the question I haven’t asked yet, which is how are you doing?”

"Twins," Gladio sounded impressed and pretty pleased, not only for the news itself, but for having that suspicion confirmed and just the reaction out of Annie over it in general, "huh? Well. Congrats. You're probably pretty excited for it, right?"

Generally speaking Marc was far more used to dealing with a dry heat than he was anything humid. So the muggyness was something of a change of pace, at least? Sadly, unlike some patrons, his hair wasn't long enough to take advantage of the Beyonce fans.

He sat at the bar and glanced at the specials while waiting to order.

After Marc got set up with his own drink, he gave a nod in Watts's direction. "Watts."

“Marc,” Watts nodded in reply. “Good evening.”

Goose had always been a bit curious about the Devil’s Nest and now that he was actually old enough to legally drink here, it felt a little weird and slightly more humid than he was expecting.

He still looked around nervously, like he might be kicked out of the bar even though he was now legal drinking age.

He looked over at the at the specials board, “um…hi what would you recommend?”

"How's it going?" Marc asked as he brought himself and his drink over so they could talk.

"Hey Shane!" Annie replied with a smile, before considering her answer. "Hmm -- do you like coconut? Because if you do, you can't go wrong with a piña colada -- they're soooo good."

Like, so good Annie was strongly considering whipping up a virgin one for herself.

"So you're getting a daiquiri, right?" Annie asked, wandering over. "With like, whipped cream and extra fruit garnishes?"

God, that sounded good, actually.

Oh, God, his poor hair.

"I'm good. Better, even," Annie told him, considering her answer. "I haven't been nauseous all day so I'm gonna say there's maybe some light at the end of that tunnel, finally. You're doing good?"

"Is it shaped like an ice cold vodka?" Marc asked.
