Luke's diner, Saturday

Miguel was awake. This was equally because of good coffee and annoying children.

One of which he was attempting to escape here. It remained to be seen how effective that would be.

The cook was cheerfully showing an excited pre-teen how to make burgers on the grill. Whatever.

Today's specials:
Peanut butter and jelly french toast
Cheeseburgers (regular or vegan)
Chocolate chip milkshakes

Luke's was open!

It was not effective at all.

It did not help that Rosa had brought RoboCop with her. If Tightpants thought he could get out of dealing with this just because he had a job on Saturday, he was sorely mistaken.

RC himself was definitely giving the place a good look-over before joining his mom at the counter, but it was hard to tell, as he pushed his sunglasses back up, whether or not the inspection passed his approval.

"Yeah," Rosa confirmed, with a quirk of her chin toward the specials board, "but the vegan one for the kid."

"Don't do it, Dad!" RoboCop's eyes were wide behind his sunglasses. "You wouldn't!"

You know what? His dad had a pretty good point, right there, and RoboCop watched as his mom very unhelpfully just smirked and shrugged her shoulders in response to that eyebrow, so he just shook his head before sliding off the stool.

"I'm going to watch them make it," he decided, "just to make sure."

Rosa definitely waited, watching the whole time, as RoboCop ducked into the kitchen and shook her head, but when she looked back at Miguel, she was grinning a little, too.

"He's totally switching that vegan burger out with mine, isn't he?" She lifted her coffee, with a nod that looked almost like approval. "He's not too bad, actually. For a kid."
