Summer, of course, never really needed a reason to spend a weekend partying or anything, but she'd be lying if she said that an added bonus to the overdue bar-hopping on the mainland to celebrate Goose's 21st and give him one last hurrah before shipping out hadn't been to just....avoid having to deal immediately with everything that had happened at the store last week. In an ideal world, she wouldn't have to deal with it all, since it wasn't, technically, even her store, but she knew better, considering whose store it actually was.
So when she walked in that Monday morning, after spending all of yesterday recovering but still feeling a slightly lingering hangover, she braced herself to spend the whole day in fix and recovery mode.
Only to find that that the store was, in fact, almost entirely set to rights again, all the knocked-over shelves neatly upright again, all the glass and detritus for the epic battles cleaned up with the products back on the shelves gleaming, almost as if nothing had ever even happened, with the exception of the empty space where the Squishy machine had been, and a bunch of yellow hazard tape around the cheese section, where plans for a renovation seemed to already be underway.
And that was when Summer remembered that Apu had been here since probably the literal dawn of time, and therefor could probably recover this place in his sleep if he had to, and so you'd better believe she was singing his praises and talking about a raise, because, damn. That was some good work right there. But Apu, who seemed to just think it was all part of the job, just shrugged his shoulders and proceeded to put a colorful pink lei around her neck and went back to sweeping the aisles in a way that made the most out of the grass hula skirt he was wearing.
