Stark Industries, Friday Afternoon

Well, the repairs from the were-elephant were well underway. Reinforced walls and a little (a lot) bit of expansion upwards. And it wasn't like Stark Tower, but it was closer to that than it had been before with a few more stories being added onto the place since they were already building there.

It seemed like a good idea to Tony, at least.

And, at the rate things were going, it shouldn't be too terribly long before it was fully habitable again. Tony hummed thoughtfully as he looked over the plans for the place on his tablet, already making notes on where he could add some more, ah, experimental security measures once the bulk of the building was completed.

Steve, having brought shame upon the family by enjoying ham and banana hollandaise in How is This Food class, trotted up to Tony with two ice coffees. "It's looking less destroyed," he said happily.

"It is less destroyed," Tony said, taking the larger of the coffees. "Once they're done, it'll be up to me for the rest."

And, you know, having Steve help as the muscle.

And maybe Jane if she was still feeling guilty.

"How long do they think it'll take?" Steve asked. "Not that I don't love hotel living."

"Maybe a week or two more?" Tony ventured. "I can show you what they've gotten done if you want."

Yes, come boggle at the renovations, Steve.

"I would love for you to show me what you've done," Steve said eagerly.

[imafuturist]

"Oh, I mostly just drew up the plans with JARVIS," Tony said, ducking under the plastic sheet keeping the dust in where the work was being done.

"I would love to see what JARVIS and you brainstormed," Steve corrected.

"Watch your step," Tony said, waving him along to the empty construction zone. They had to take breaks from time to time, after all.

"That's a crack about the lava class, isn't it," Steve said.

"Would I do that?" Tony asked, turning around to walk backwards and give Steve a confused look even though it very much was one.

[heroic_jawline]

"You absolutely would do that," Steve said. "JARVIS probably put it on your calendar to remind me about it this time next year."

"Okay, that does sound like something I'd do," Tony admitted, leading him up the stairs since the elevator was still in progress. Why did they need an elevator? Because he was Tony Stark, that was why.

"Is that an elevator?" Steve asked, frowning at the structure as they went past.

"Steve, have you been in a New York building without one? It's awful."

This was Maryland, but okay.

"I lived in a fifth floor walk up in the 1920s," Steve said dryly.

"And now there's an elevator," Tony said before adding, quickly and under his breath, "And maybe double the floors in the plans"

Anthony, what was that?

Super hearing super caught that. "What?!"

"It's not too much!" It was too much. You needed to talk him out of it, Steve.

"It's definitely too much," Steve told him. "There's got to be zoning regulations. Historical regulations. Gremlin habitat regulations. Something."

"8 stories?" Lower, Tony.

[heroic_jawline]

"What was wrong with two and the basement?" Steve asked.

[imafuturist]

"Well, I just thought it was a good opportunity to expand," Tony replied. "I'm sure my predecessor did a good job, but clearly he wasn't prepared for things like I am. I normally am."

Still mad he didn't have a were-creature contingency plan.

"Maybe he looked at the codes," Steve muttered.

"...seven stories?" Tony said, going down another to appease Steve here.

"Three," Steve countered.
