Trooper Station, Friday
"I'm afraid you have the wrong number," Watts said. "Yes. Yes, seriously. Because the decision whether or not to install a haunted cave as a tourist attractions is not up to the police force. You're looking for the Mayor's office. The number is..."
Watts hung up the telephone and sighed.
"One, two-" and sure enough, on three it rang again.
"... An elevator? To the top of Selkie Peak? Why?"
"Well, regardless, you're going to want the Mayor's office."
He hung up the phone again. And again, on three, it rang. Perhaps this time he could just head them off at the pass?
"You have the wrong n- oh. Oh, my apologies. Do go on. An infestation, you said? Of panbats?" Well, it wasn't exactly in the Trooper Station's wheelhouse but you know what, it was closer than anything else he'd gotten a call about. So it was that Ralph and Hugo were sent out to deal with this... panbat problem. Whatever a panbat even was.

“Nearly endless telephone calls,” Watts said, side-eyeing the telephone in question as if daring it to ring again. (It did not.) “Only one of which, so far, has been in regards to anything even remotely within the jurisdiction of the Trooper Station.” He sighed. “Yourself?”

So yes, it was the same action item on his list. Funny how that worked out.

Steven opened the salad container and pointed. He gave Llewellyn a proud smile. "It has sunflower seeds!"

Sunflowers would definitely be making a return appearance if this was the reaction they elicited.

At which point Steven took advantage of said range to kiss him.
