The store apparently thought it was Christmas in July with the way the air conditioning was working overtime. Wanda had tried turning it off, flipping the breaker, even smacking it a couple times, but to no avail. It was blasting to the point there was some ice coming off the vents.

Thankfully she had an extra blanket lying around so it wasn't too miserable in the store today.

Steve meant to say "Hi" but what came out was "Holy cow, it's cold in here."

"It sure is," Wanda agreed from where she was huddled up with a blanket. "I considered opening the door but I didn't want to make the a/c work harder."

"I can call Tony," Steve offered, "but you might end up listening to him ranting about magic if he can't figure out how to make this stop."

"If it lasts more than a day I'll ask," she assured him. "I think right now I should just be grateful that it's on in the first place."

She'd much rather be cold than hot.

Steve'd had his fill of being cold, but he wasn't going to bring it up.

"It's definitely better than a summer city apartment without it," he agreed. "Did you need air conditioning in Sokovia?"

"I mean, there were some days in the summer where I wish I had it," she said. "But we mostly made do with a fan and an open window."

Steve laughed. "We just had the open window and July in Brooklyn was what you'd call fragrant."

Wanda wrinkled up her nose. "Stinky and hot? Not ideal."

"At least we were up on the fourth story so the heat got there, but not always the garbage smell," Steve said, grinning at her.

Wanda huffed out a laugh, then look at the air in front of her. "I think I can see my breath."

"I think I can too," Steve said. "Do you need hot chocolate?"

"I mean, it'd certainly be appropriate," Wanda said. "But people at the café might think you're nuts."

"Oh, they always think I'm nuts," Steve said, laughing. "Do you know how many times a day we're in there?"

Wanda lifted her eyebrows. "I hope less than three."

Steve made a little face. "More like four. Plus the coffee Tony drinks from his fancy machine that might also call the suit."
