The stereo was on the fritz again which meant that, for some reason, all it was doing was playing calypso music. Eddie had recently educated himself on Beetlejuice so he wasn't actually complaining. That movie ruled. He hoped this place was haunted with goofy ghosts, that'd be sweet.

Had the divorced dads missed Anakin while he was a cat? Probably not, but he was back anyway!

"This is...perkier music than usual," he commented to Eddie.

"You get used to it." Especially if you had the ghostly imagery in mind. "Better than Christmas music."

Though the last time this place played Christmas music he had gotten laid so it wasn't all bad.

"It's still August!" Anakin agreed. "It's much too early for that."

If he heard that George Michael song this early, he would not be responsible for his actions.

"Yeah, dude, it's not even Halloween time yet." Eddie, being from 1986, did not realize that October started after July 4th as far as stores were concerned these days.

And Christmas began at Labor Day. It was a problem.

"I don't mind Halloween," Anakin admitted.

"You're wearing a cloak, dude, I could tell by looking at you," Eddie said with a grin. "It's the best holiday."

It also should be no surprise that Eddie felt that way.

"I do enjoy a good jump scare," Anakin admitted with a smirk.

[shireisburning]

"In my old town people jumped at the sight of me all of the time. It was kind of fun sometimes." So long as nobody beat him up. "Everybody thought I worshipped Satan."

"...maybe that'll be the Halloween theme here. Satanic Panic."

"Did you worship Satan? I think he works at one of the bars and would probably like to meet a fan," Anakin said.

"Pfft, no, I don't worship anything." Except the power of rock. But didn't everyone? "If I did meet Satan at the bar I'd ask why he's got so many evil, bitey bats in Hell."

Upside Down = Hell? It made sense if you saw it.

"Maybe for the aesthetics?" Anakin said. "I knew about a person in my home galaxy who built an entire castle on a volcano planet for the way it looked."

That person? Him. But details.

"That doesn't sound OSHA compliant," Eddie joked. "But it would scare the hell out of visitors, so I can see the appeal."

"I don't think we have OSHA," Anakin admitted.

Otherwise there weren't be as many giant holes in major pieces of architecture, right?

"I mean, I don't think this town does either," Eddie said, lowering his voice. "I'm pretty sure that nacho cheese machine can melt your face off."

"Oooh," was probably not the right response, but here we were anyway.

"Yeah if shit ever went down in here? I'd be going for that as a weapon first," Eddie said with a nod. "Just load up a bunch of cups and use them like grenades."

"Excellent choice," Anakin said. "My wife used to throw hot coffee at invaders."

[shireisburning]

"A scrappy fighter -- my favorite," Eddie said with a grin. "Using the tools at hand makes you dangerous in any room."

"Exactly," Anakin agreed. "It's just good sense around here."
