Caritas, Saturday - After 3MD

Well, Tino was all set up, thinking he was going to get some numbers out of the dating event for reasons that Jane couldn't quite suss out.

So she was just going to be at her end of the bar to help out anyone who needed a drink. Tino could deal with the disappointment when people just wanted a drink and to be left alone over on his part of the bar.

Jaina had showed up like she sometimes did, and accidentally walked into dates and a whole bunch of family members, apparently. Might as well stick around for the drink she was planning to get in the first place.

"Can I get a vodka tonic?"

Sia had unabashedly tagged along with Jessica- with a valid reason to do some checking up- and had shown up too late to get roped into the dates but early enough to watch. So now she could just get a drink and do some people watching.

Considering that the majority of her dates had been with literal muppets, Summer was feeling pretty damn good about how that went. She was feeling even better, though, about how things might go now that the dates were over, and she hopped up to the bar in a way that was very intentional extra cute and hopefully very inviting, as she flipped her ponytail and said, "Heyyyy, Jane. Could you just get me a couple of vodka shots, please?"

She could have just asked Tino, but didn't she suffer enough interacting with him on her usual bar shift?

Rey might not have hung around long, but she felt she should check in with Summer at least.

"And how were your dates?" she asked.

"Of course," Jane said, getting the drink together. "Are you new here?"

"Does that mean your dates were bad or good?" Jane asked, grabbing the shot glasses.

"Disappointing," said Summer, meeting Rey with a grin as she came up, "because I didn't even get paired up with you! But they were...they were fun."

And honestly, more so than she was expecting, even if there was maybe a slight disappointment for not getting paired up with someone else, but also, waiting to see how that was going to go now that the dates were over was far more interesting.

"How were yours? Any sparks? Any future wedding dates?"

"In this case," said Summer, "they were good, and the shots are more for sharing. Not all for me."

Well, that had been an interesting experience, well worth venturing out for, even if it had been a distraction from her original plan. And even crowded, this place was delightfully cool, giving her yet another reason to linger over the remains of her wine for a few moments longer.

"That is good then," Jane said, smiling now as she poured the vodka for her. "Want me to keep them coming?"

"Old, but visiting," Jaina said. "I think we've met before."

She knew they had, but it'd been a while and she sometimes liked being a brat about things.

Since dragging him here to socialize had been quite the team effort, apparently, there was likely to be a quick debriefing with the others now that all the dates were over, and then Gladio would be on his way back to his date that had already been in progress, and Prompto would no doubt grab a beer to try and stretch out some of those few rare moments away from house and home and family, while Ignis would find himself getting a wine and mulling over how things had not quite gone as he'd expected them to be, and wondering if he should consider attempting to find a certain thread of aroma in the area that called up mulberries and cedar...

"We have?" Look, she couldn't even use sickness brain as an excuse here anymore.

Yes, Jaina, have fun with it.

Rey made a face at the wedding dates part, but said, "No. I did get invited to a family get together, though. And none of them were bad."

"Yeah. You look like my grandma?"

Anywhere else, a horrifying statement.

...Also here, a horrifying statement, but usually for different reasons.

Jane's eyes went wide and she looked like she wanted to be swallowed up by a hole in the ground. "Right. Yes. The thing I sort of repressed a little bit."

"That happens," Jaina assured her. "If it helps, it looks like my great-granddaughter is here."

If it helps.

"...I'm making myself a drink too," Jane decided. You know. For that.

Summer opened her mouth to say something, stopped as she seemed to think better of it, tilted her head a little as she reconsidered, and then finally, shook her head and just said, "You know what? Normally, I'd say it would be really worrying that the result of your 3MD experience is an invite to a family reunion, but then I remember who your family is, and, like, that tracks? But I'm glad you didn't have any bad ones."

"I think that all depends," said Summer with a little bit of a laugh, "on who comes up to join me and take me up on the shots and how their dates went. So we'll see how it goes. And what about you, Jane? How've you been? Decided not to get in on this speed dating action yourself?"
