Octavia had been very adamant yesterday that Lucifer was not allowed to burn down the Devil's Nest, no matter how it may have looked like right now.

But she had to admit it was very different right now, when she walked in for whatever her shift was going to be like, and was faced with an onslaught of orange, sports on screen, and a lot more staff than she was used to (and in much skimpier clothing than she was used to - on Tiny, at least).

And that was before she saw the banner hanging over the bar, just as bright and garish as everything else:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, OCTAVIA!!!

Octavia stared up at it.

"... I think that was two weeks ago."

The bar didn't care. Some of the waitresses had just spotted her, and now there some excited squealing with the gist of 'eeee the birthday girl is here!!' And no, they weren't going to care about such minor details as said birthday having been two weeks ago or no one having actually asked for this party, either.

"Why would it be inappropriate?"

Dunno, Tavi, why were you reacting so weird?

"I know it's complicated for you," Lucifer said quietly. "I just... wanted to make sure you knew that I support you. Whether you'd like to use these soon, or... some other day."

Right words, right time. Something clicked.

Octavia nodded again. Then stepped closer, and leaned up to kiss him. Easier than words.

Now that was a rarity.

But something in Lucifer's body relaxed when she kissed him, his fingers sliding down to her waist.

Octavia didn't really linger in it, because Hooters was much more of a hectic environment than the club tended to be on Wednesdays, but at least she was looking up at him now.

"Thank you," she murmured.

"You're welcome," Lucifer said warmly. He cupped her cheek. "Even if this is a terrible venue for your birthday party."

"There wasn't going to be any venue for my birthday party," Octavia retorted gently.

"Yes, because Duke and I realized too late we'd missed it," Lucifer said. "Still, I had been planning to... set us up a nice little campfire party outside the cabin on Chile tomorrow. Perhaps get some instruments out."

"Not sure that counts as a party."

And she didn't sound like that was a bad thing.

"It counts as a party in all the ways that matter," Lucifer said sagely. "We don't need all the other elements."

"If you say so," Octavia replied, but it was mostly teasing.
