The Troopers today were involved in some sort of game that, as far as Watts could tell, involved building towers out of ‘fun size’ chocolate bars.

Watts himself? Perched on his desk, working away at the latest page in his Chinese language book. While occasionally checking his mobile telephone for messages as much like yesterday, he’d told Steven to feel free to text or call if he wanted anything.

Around midmorning came a text.

Hello, you.

Watts smiled when he saw the text, and quickly replied back:

Is it all right if lunch isn't hot?

Then, after realizing that might not be clear, Steven added, I mean it isn't meant to be.

Steven wasn't truly worried about Llewellyn having a problem with this so much as he was using a thin excuse to text when any conversation with Llewellyn was comforting.

But the weather? All right for cold? Or cool?

Steven snickered.

His fingers had a hard time with the tiny virtual keyboard, okay?

Which Steven found endearing! Hence the snicker. It was one of delight.

All right if I pop by a little early? Won't take too long to finish

And he'd be able to see Llewellyn quicker that way.

Steven tilted his head at that because he was having a hard time guessing what the first words were meant to be. Luckily the last three were easy enough.

Right. Be there in an hour or so.

And sure enough a little over an hour later Steven arrived at Llewellyn's office door with the insulated bag in hand. "Hello, you."

The words in question were “your company”, for the record.

“Hello, you,” Watts beamed, putting aside the language workbook as soon as Steven spoke.

Steven closed the door so they could have privacy. "Things going well?"

“There’s no crisis, and the Troopers seem occupied,” Watts said, holding his arms out to gesture for Steven to come closer.

Steven did that very thing. He put the bag down on Llewellyn's desk then wrapped his arms around Llewellyn's shoulders. "Hello, you."

It was a different level of greeting this time, you see.

“Hello, you,” Watts echoed. He’d been sitting with his legs dangling off the edge of the desk, and so wrapped them around Steven’s to pull him in close for a kiss.

That earned a soft chuckle from Steven as he happily let himself be pulled as close to Llewellyn as he could get. He was also happy to return that kiss.

“How’s your day been so far?” Watts asked, still keeping himself wrapped around Steven even though the kiss was done.

Steven rested his forehead against Llewellyn's. "All right. Not as bad. Day by day, yeah?"

“Day by day,” Watts agreed. “I’m proud of you,” he said, not for the first time.

Steven gave a shy smile. "Thank you. That means a great deal to me. It being you especially. Certainly couldn't do it without you."

“Whatever you need, I’m here,” Watts told him. “Now and always.”

It was one of those moments where Steven didn't know how much he needed to hear the words until Llewellyn said them. He relaxed, losing a level of tension he didn't even know he was carrying. "I love you. Very much."

“As I do you,” Watts replied.

Steven gave him another kiss. Not too long, but appreciative. "Don't know what I'd do without you. Would like to never find out."
