The song hadn't left Jesse's head in months. It popped up at the most unexpected times, disrupting her sleep, and other things besides. Had people worried, that she hadn't been outside much? Or maybe they hadn't noticed.

Because you're usually such a social butterfly.

She had woken up one morning sure she knew where it was coming from. And so, last week, she'd gone down into the basement to face it. Only to find... nothing. Just a regular basement, and a shadow in the corner of her eye. When she'd come back up, it had been... today. A week later.

"Just get me James' file again," she told her assistant, tired, as she sank back down behind her desk. "Maybe focusing on a slightly less impossible mystery will give me a boost." It had been-- a while, since she'd gotten any sign from him at all. That was fine. It wasn't like she wasn't used to chasing after people who vanished in the night.
