Thanksgiving had been successfully avoided, but that was like the practice round. Now was where the real challenge, the final boss, came into play with avoiding Christmas. Some people felt like they were getting a late start on their shopping if they didn't start planning well before December, and that was how Rosa felt about putting into motion plans to avoid Christmas back home with her family. The Polar Plunge was a given, that was a tradition, but that had started to only get her so far. She had to start getting more creative, especially when non-Christmas-Day Christmas gatherings were starting to pop up.
She probably had a few weeks before she needed to start skimming the obituaries for funerals she had to attend instead, but right now, she was researching various sweepstakes she could claim to have won with non-negotiable travel dates that, oh, darn, she just couldn't reschedule for! It's a once in a lifetime opportunity!
