The Trooper Station, Monday, November 27, 2023
Steve and Danny were back from their trips to New Jersey and Honolulu for Thanksgiving and Steve was fighting the combination of jet lag and carb overload. (Though the turkey tetrazzini had been good, thank you, random aunt of Danny's.)
The point was that Steve was hoping for a quiet day at the office and the person on the phone was not giving him a quiet day.
"Okay, what did the box say again?" he asked, reaching for his notepad. "'Definitely not bees,' huh," he said with a small snort, "and what else? 'Shake vigorously.'"
He rubbed the bridge of his nose. "And the box did turn out to be full of now incredibly angry bees?"
He pulled the phone from his ear to alleviate the yelling.
"I'll send some people over," he said, gesturing to the two nearest Troopers. "Just...stay in the bathroom until they get there, okay?"
The Trooper Station was open! And not full of bees.
