It took Buck waaaaay too long this morning to realize there was stuff in his shoes. He was at work, in fact, when he finally took his shoe off and saw his sock was covered in melted chocolate. Whoops.

Well. Good thing they rarely had emergencies so it was no big deal for him to walk around barefoot all day.

"Did you put chocolate in my shoes?"

Oh, they were still getting used to things happening this month, weren't they?
justalittlerepressed: (uhhh no I'm gonna go with no)

Eddie paused and considered that. "Maybe Chris?"

Because school might have mentioned a new holiday tradition that didn't involve mom trauma or something.
justalittlerepressed: (I can do this)

"Well, no." Because he was a smart kid like that. "Is this like the Santa hat thing?"

If he went over to the boots lined up and ready for an emergency, would there be chocolate in there?

"Huh." Should he have eaten that chocolate before checking on this? Probably not. "Well, I'm not turning down free chocolate."

"How?" Eddie. Eddie. Think about it.
justalittlerepressed: (giiiiirl)

Eddie tilted his head at that and started cracking up. "How?"

Look, he wouldn't be your best friend if he didn't laugh at this, Buck. Thems the rules of dude friendship.

"No, I am never letting you live this down." Even though he'd go back home and get new socks and shoes so Buck could walk home after his shift.
justalittlerepressed: (that doesn't sound right)

Give him a moment. Giiiive him a moment. And there it was.

"Gross," Eddie said, making a face and batting at him.
justalittlerepressed: (I'm listening but I don't care)

"I would... probably not have," Eddie said slowly. "Because if you got sick like that, I'm pretty sure all of us would too."

Also, it'd probably be from Eddie's cooking.

Yeah, they really should check on their benefits with the local union. There was a local union, right?

Somewhere in the station... the singing Big Mouth Bass stirred.

"Yeah, where you can get Gatorade easily," Eddie agreed. "And also play games on Chris' Playstation."

Which would be upgraded this Christmas thanks to the whole weird Walmart thing.

"Or the painting guy," Eddie suggested. "Those were the best."

They could literally just do that now. If they wanted to.
justalittlerepressed: (pouring his heart out here)

Because Buck's parents were awful. But having terrible parents might be a prerequisite to becoming a firefighter?

"You should give it a try," Eddie replied, already thinking about getting Buck the supplies for the holiday. Which was just a thoughtful gift from a pal and nothing else.

"Right next to Chris'," Eddie replied with a grin. "Just a tiny bit lower than his stuff."
