The Photo Hut - Thursday

Liz wasn’t too sure about the couch sized jelly donut that had appeared in the living room this morning but so far it didn’t seem to be doing anything other than sit there, even though trying to keep both Noctra and Rain away from it had proved to be rather difficult but Liz made it downstairs to do some of the paper work since she knew Liliana was going to be stopping by later that afternoon and she wanted to try and get some of the work done.

So she was busy working on answering some of the emails that she had that morning and trying to get as much of the paperwork done that she could.

Yeah, having a giant jelly donut in his house was a problem. Because now Prompto was going to spend all day thinking about donuts, and wanting to get donuts, and trying to justify that he can have donuts while also firmly telling himself that he didn't need donuts, but maybe if it was just a few donuts, just a couple....

Nope. Not thinking about donuts, just focusing on keeping Noctra from getting too into the donut, and then, after realizing that while cute powdered sugared paws on the floors were adorable and made for a few cute shots, was not a great idea, but then Rain fell asleep on the donut couch, and it was too precious to move her, so........

That, he decided, was going to be a problem for Future Prompto. Present Prompto had a lunch to make, and, eventually, baby in one arm and a bag of the food in the other, Rain still asleep on the donut couch, he came downstairs with his best attempts to recreate that salad that Iggy used to make that he liked with some nice chicken breast to go with it, something good and healthy and the opposite of donuts!

"Hi," he said, with a relieved smile to be away from the temptation for at least a little bit in coming downstairs, "ready for a lunch break?"

“Hi,” Liz smiled as she looked up from computer glad for the break, she gazed fondly over at them, “a break by sounds wonderful thank you,”

"You're welcome," said Prompto proudly, coming around to set the food down on the counter and, in doing so, swoop in for a little kiss and then tilted Noctra a little her way,too, so she could make her best attempt at imitating the action. She didn't have nearly the coordination or wherewithall to do much that just sort of vaguely make a smacking sound at the air somewhat near Liz, but she sure had the spirit!

And it was adorable, so he chuckled, and Prompto's next kiss landed on the tip of Noctra's head as he brushed back some of all that wild, wispy dark hair of hers out of her eyes.

"How's everything been down here?"

Liz's smile widened at both kisses as she gratefully returned both of them, she took a moment to coo softly at Noctra and then looked back at Prompto, "its been pretty good down here, just answering some emails so it hasn't been too bad," she told him, "how about you? Is the jelly donut still in the living room?"

Prompto groaned at the reminder, rolling his eyes with a sigh. "Unfortunately," he said. "Pretty sure we're stuck with it the rest of the day. Buuuut....check this out."

He shifted Noctra a little so he could reach into his pocket and pull out his phone, swiping his thumb expertly over it until he could pull up the picture of Rain curled up and sleeping on the middle of the donut and showed it to Liz.

"Cute, right? No idea how long she'll actually stay like that, but it's hard to be mad when she clearly likes it so much."

Liz smiled fondly at the photo as she saw Rain curled up sleeping in the donut. "She was very eager to get to it this morning but that is adorable, hopefully she won't be too upset when it disappears tomorrow,"

"I guess I'll just have to keep buying her giant donuts to sleep on, then!" said Prompto with a chuckle. "Although, maaaan, I am not looking forward to cleaning up after this later on, but that? Is a problem for Future Prompto. And, hey, speaking of Future Prompto and Liz and Noctra....you think you might wanna duck into that party tomorrow? If anything, it seems like a good excuse to put at least one of those cute Christmas outfits of hers to good use...she's probably enjoy getting a look at the spectacle of it all, even if just for a little bit, you know?"

Liz gave a grin at that, "I was trying to not think about how much mess that's going to create later but it looks like Rain's having fun, even though we might have to bribe her with giant donuts," she said fondly, "and I think the party sounds like a great idea, I think it'd be fun to take Noctra to her first holiday party,"

"The only problem then," Prompto said with a grin, "is figuring out which cute outfit to put her in! And....you think it would be okay, right?" He frowned a little with concern. "If we brought her? If she starts to get fussy, we can always duck out and take her home...but, like, you don't really see a lot of kids at these parties because, well...there aren't a lot of little kids on the island, not like baby little...It'll be fine, right?"

"I mean I don't think it would be a problem?" Liz said as she tried to think of a reason why they wouldn't be able to take Noctra, "especially if we're only there for a short while and or we leave when Noctra starts to get fussy, I mean it wouldn't hurt to try, there wasn't anything on the invite about no kids right?" Liz said as she tried to remember.

Promptly at two ~~which my phone tried to change to 'Prompto,' lol~~, Liliana slipped into the Photo Hut wearing her modern clothes (which were not what she'd been wearing when she'd left the house, hair tucked up into a hat, a scarf around her shoulders and lightly obscuring the bottom of her face. Was it ridiculous? Absolutely. Would anyone be fooled if they took longer than a brief glance? Doubtful. But was she having a marvelous time with all the skulking and skullduggery (as opposed to skull-diggery which was far more her normal bread and butter)?

Absolutely yes.

In one hand, she carried two small SD cards full of pictures, one she'd she'd gotten from Prompto the other day, the other from Liz after the party. The other carried a box of confections she'd picked up on the way, mint cookies dipped in a chocolate ganache.

"Hello, darling," she said when she came in, keeping her voice low. "Prompto busy upstairs?"

Liz smiled as Liliana came in and went to get the selection of photos of her, Prompto and Noctra she had brought downstairs.

“Hi Liliana, Prompto’s upstairs, we’ll be safe down here,” she assured her.

"Wonderful," she said, heading over to snag several more of the oversized locket-frames she'd grabbed on Tuesday when she'd first originally visited Prompto. "Now, I've already figured out the pictures I want from these, though I'll need you to print them out, preferably to fit into these without too much trimming, and then we shall need to settle in and look for pictures of the three of you. I'm thinking of one of Noctra when she was still an infant, and one more recent? Does that sound doable?"

Liz smiled at that, "that definitely sounds doable," she assured her as she got everything laid out on the counter, "these are a selection of photos that I chose, there's also more if you need different options," she said as she showed the photos that she had with her.

Liliana nodded and handed the first SD card to Liz to...do the...thing...they did with it. "I'll show you the ones I've chosen from there," she said. Looking through, Liz would likely recognize these were pictures from Eos a decade ago, the youthful faces of all four of the Kingsglaive grinning out at them. Some scrolling and they got to the first one, a picture of the four of them in their uniforms, looking proud and trying for serious, though an irrepressible energy of excitement could be seen if you knew them well enough. "I need two copies of this one," she said. "And this one, this one, and this one."

"And then I have one more picture on this card to pull as well," she said, holding up the party chip. "And then it's time to search through your family pictures."

Liz took a moment to look through the photos, definitely recognising those in the photos, “I can definitely get copies for you,” she assured Liliana as she began to start printing the copies of the images that Liliana had selected.

The last picture was one from Nell from the party, limned in moonlight, looking absolutely lovely.

"Wonderful," Liliana replied, and moved over to begin sorting through the Argentum family pictures. "Do let me know if any of the ones have special significance," she said, flipping through them one by one ~~since I don't wanna mod your pictures~~.

Liz selected the photo of Nell and began to print a copy.

“This one,” she said as she showed it, “this was one of the ones taken when we first got back home after Noctra was born,” and then she selected a much more recent photo of them that had been taken at Thanksgiving, “and here’s one with us and Rain as well when we first introduced Noctra to her,” she explained.

"Oooh, these are both very sweet," Liliana said. "If you print them small enough to fit into these frames, would they still be as detailed?"

Liz considered the photos and then the size of the frames, "I think I should be able to print them that small and not lose any of the details," she nodded.

"Excellent," she said, "then yes, I think these will do nicely. Then these six individual pictures and two copies of the Kingsglaive, please. And then we'll trim them enough to fit in the frames."

And as Liz printed, Liliana started threading gold ribbons through the top of each of the lockets. "Are you two getting a Christmas tree?" she asked, since she wasn't sure how ubiquitous the practice was.

Liz smiled at that, "we actually already have a Christmas tree," she explained, "we still have ours from last year, its one of my favourite times of year," she added fondly, "especially as the weather gets colder, I much prefer it to the heat ... well ...for obvious reasons," she admitted sheepishly.

Liliana nodded in understanding. "Well, hopefully these will fit on your tree nicely," she said, holding one of the lockets up by the ribbon. "Because you'll have two more soon."

Liz smiled at that, "they will definitely fit nicely on the tree, they'll look beautiful, thank you,"

Once Liz was done printing, she snagged two of the lockets, into one, she put the two pictures of the Argentums, the left side held the one when Noctra was still an infant; the right, the one from Thanksgiving. In the other, she cut the Kinsglaive picture, putting half in either side.

"There," she said with satisfaction as one with the bros dangled from her fingertips. "They can be stored closed throughout the year and hung open on the tree." She held them out to Liz. "Would you like to give these to him?"

Liz smiled, "I can definitely give them to him if you would like me to, this looks amazing Liliana thank you, he's going to love it," she said as she looked at the lockets.

Liliana shrugged. "I figure you'll see him before I will and they're meant to be on the tree, not sitting in a box, waiting. Just tell him that if he ruins the surprise for the other two, I'll be very cross."

"I will definitely give to him" Liz promised, "and you won't have anything to worry about, he won't ruin the surprise for the others," she told her.

"Thank you," she said, smiling warmly as she handed them over. "Now to just finish up Gladio's and then I think I'll be done with all of my gifts."

Gladio's were more tricky as she didn't think he had a tree to hang them from. But, ah well. He was resourceful, he'd probably figure out something.

Liz smiled at that, "I've still got a few gifts to finish getting, last year was easy I was able to knit things for everyone and now I've not been able to do as much so I'm still trying to find the last of the gifts I need to get," she said, "at least Noctra's has been easy to buy gifts for," she added fondly.

Liliana laughed. "I was telling Nell, I'm no handicrafter. No homemade gifts from me unless everyone wants zombies for Christmas."

Liz grinned at that, "maybe the zombies at Caritas would like that?" she suggested.

"Those zombies are barely worth the name," Liliana sniffed. "I don't know who their ghoulcaller is, but they should be ashamed. Catch me letting zombies out in that state!"

Sorry, Liz, you've activated her trap card and that was 'necromantic quality.'

"They've been like that since before I was a student here and that was like over ten years ago, I'm not actually sure how long they've been in Fandom," Liz admitted, which probably wasn't going to help with that impression.

"A well-cared for zombie wouldn't look that rough, even after ten years," she declared. "But I supposed some necromancers just don't care about the quality of their work."
