It felt like a mini-painting kind of day, and not just for Steph, apparently: the gremlins were all set up at their table with one of the store's painting kits and about three dozen miniatures from whatever game they were playing at the moment -- some kind of kingdom building sim, it looked like -- and hard at work. Having a way easier time of it than Steph was, from the look of things, but then again they were a lot closer in size to the minis, weren't they?

Steph had her own array of paints up at the counter, and from the look of the various fanged, clawed, or otherwise very sharp and pointy creatures she was painting her players were going to have a really bad time of it next week.

Assuming her dice rolled well, that was.

Well for her.

Well, the new class wasn't exactly Jane's wheelhouse, but luckily there was a shop in town to help with that! Because Cara, god love her, would probably only be interested in the combat part of things.

"Hello?"

Steph looked up from the half-praying mantis, half-giant badger looking creature she was doing a base coat on and almost knocked her paint water cup over.

"Hey, Jane, what brings you in here today?"

Yeah, Jane was giving it a confused look and also thinking it sort of looked like Miek. Which just made it weirder somehow.

"Oh, those are what I'm looking for," she said, realizing that it was actually something that was made and not just, you know, picked up.

Hey, if it wasn't at least a little bit weird in here, Steph was falling down on the job.

"Minis? Wait, really?" Steph's eyebrows twitched upward, briefly. "Oh -- is this for your class?"

Jane nodded and looked a little relieved at that. "I thought it'd be nice to get the students one each."

So many barbarians, Steph. So many.

"Hell yeah," Steph said with a grin of clear approval. "I was going to take that class too, but there's a few regularly scheduled events here on Thursdays so it was tricky."

Plus nobody needed her backseat DMing, which she might be physically incapable of stopping herself from doing.

"We have pre-painted ones, or if you want I'm totally down to make custom ones for them. That's way more fun anyway."

Huh. Tony probably had 3D printing tech in that fancy makerspace, right? Maybe she could get him to let her use that.

"Well, it means I get to ask you for advice on it then," Jane admitted with a grin. "Maybe custom is the way to go? We kind of... randomly generated characters for people."

"Amazing," Steph declared with maybe a little bit evil glee. "Do you happen to have a list of the characters so I can plug them into the character generator? Then all I have to do is get them printed and paint them... unless the class wants to do the painting themselves? That's an option."

Huh. Maybe she should just start offering custom minis as a thing in general.

"That could give them a sense of ownership on the characters, right?" Jane said, pulling out the rather eclectic list of characters.

"It can help, yeah, especially if they didn't create all the backstory and shit themselves," Steph agreed, reaching for the list. Her eyebrows were going to go stratospheric when she read it (and she'd probably give Vi so much shit about hers later).

But it was cute! But Jane was new to this still.

"I hope they enjoy it. The class was kind of... given to us."

"I've heard things about the office moose," Steph noted, making a sympathetic face. "Have to learn the rules on the fly, huh?"
