Miguel was actually glad to be back here, after last week's insanity.

Not that the cook rolling meatballs around like juggler's balls wasn't insane, but it was an insanity he was used to.

"I'm not even gonna ask." He went to make coffee.

"Okay, but what if I want meatballs in my chocolate shake?"

Rosa didn't, of course. Who did she look like, Summer Smith? But she couldn't see a specials board like that as she went for a seat at the counter and not ask.

"Just for you, I'll put them in." Miguel poured her a cup of coffee. "Is that your order?"

"No," said Rosa. "You give me a milkshake with meatballs in it, I'm changing the locks while you're still here."

Actually, she might still do that for funsies. Don't tell her that he wouldn't enjoy working around it and then rubbing it in her face that he did.

"I will take a burger, though," she said. "With fries. And maybe a to-go order of the vegan Swedish meatballs to give to my worst enemy."

"Sure thing." Miguel put in the order.

He'd just climb in the window, Rosa.

"Who's your worst enemy today?"

"Ask me again after I've had this burger," she said, "in case I need to change my mind."

Her chin then quirked up at the diner as a whole. "How's the shift been?"

"Boring with intermittent scraping meatballs off the ceiling," Miguel said. "After last week, I'll take it. What about you, anything interesting?"

Rosa's eyes immediately went up to confirm there were no meatballs directly overhead where she sat.

"Well," she said, attention diverting back to Miguel. "I had nothing better to do than come in here and bug you. So that should tell you how thrilling my day's going. And I don't know. You'd really take scraping meatballs off the ceiling over last week? I kinda miss it, actually..."

"You know how much I need to eat, and you saw the food there. Do you blame me?" Miguel asked.

Rosa took a moment to consider that.

"Most of the food I saw while I was there was coming out of people as they got off rides," she pointed out. "But, okay, yeah, you've got a point there."

"Probably not much worse than it was going in," Miguel said. "The pizza wasn't too bad, but you can only live off that for so long."
