Watts had been having One Of Those Days. You know the kind, where nothing catastrophic had gone wrong but it was a series of small frustrations? Starting with his alarm not going off on time, and then the bag of cat food spilling open all over the floor… well, suffice to say by the time he got to the Station he was in a Mood.

Let’s not even talk about the kind of calls he was getting today. Lots of long, rambling tales of a series of coincidences that led to the caller doing something embarrassing? How was that even police business?

Come lunchtime there was a Steven at Llewellyn's office door. "Hello, you."

Well, at least something was happening as expected and on schedule.

“Hello, you,” Watts greeted, pleased and relived all at once.

Steven closed the door behind him as he came inside. "How are you? Day get any better?"

[pocketpretzels]

“It is now,” Watts told him.

“Sorry about the mess in the kitchen.”

Which he’d done his best to clean up, much to Raphael’s dismay.

"It's all right," Steven said. He put the insulated bag down on Llewellyn's desk, taking care to keep it level. "It's clean as a whistle now."

Much to Raphael's dismay.

“Have I mentioned yet today how much I love you?” Watts asked, standing up to pull Steven in for a kiss.

"Hmm, not since I came into the room," Steven said, wrapping his arms around Llewellyn as he kissed him back.

“Well, I do. Love you very much,” Watts declared, pulling back from the kiss but not letting go of Steven just yet.

"I love you too," Steven said. He moved his hands up to the back of Llewellyn's neck and gently massaged. "Are you feeling all right? Haven't pushed yourself?"

“The world at large seems determined to push at me,” Watts said, rolling his neck slightly at Steven’s touch.

"My poor love," Steven said. He tried to massage any spots on Llewellyn's neck that seemed particularly tense. "Anything I can do to help?"

“Already doing so,” Watts said, letting his head drop down to rest on Steven’s shoulder.

[hasaknightjob]

"Good." Steven moved one hand up to massage the base of Llewellyn's hair. "It's what I'm here for. Taking care of you."

“You’re very good at it,” Watts said with a sigh. “Even when I have had need of it more than usual.”

"It's all right that you do," Steven said. "Not - I'm not happy that you're unhappy. But it's never a problem when you need more care. You're never too much."

“If you’re certain,” Watts said. And then, after a moment: “We should sit.”

Not that he was moving.

[hasaknightjob]

"Positive," Steven told him. And while they did need to sit and eat the lunch Steven had brought, he was going to kiss Llewellyn first to drive home the point that no, he was not too much.

Another sigh, though this one was much happier.

"All mine," Steven told him. "But here, let's sit so you can eat. Can't have you starving to death now can we?"

"That would indeed be terrible," Watts agreed with a smile, pulling away so that he could pull out Steven's chair for him before heading to his own.

Steven smiled at the gesture. Once he was seated, he set about getting the food together. "Even though you're well enough to work I thought noodle soup was still a wise choice."

Along with the soup there were slices of one of Llewellyn's crustier loaves which could be used to sop up broth if someone cared to.

“I do enjoy a good soup,” Watts said. “Particularly if you’ve made it.”

Steven beamed proudly. "I did indeed. Thought Thai might be a good change of pace?"

There'd been a lot of vegan matzoh ball soup the week Llewellyn was on bed rest.

Watts leaned over his bowl and inhaled a deep breath.

"It smells delicious," he said happily.

Steven beamed proudly. "It wasn't too difficult to make either. So can easily go in the rotation if you like it."
