Rey wasn't huge into whole consumerism thing, but she was into supporting gremlin friends (including her ex-assistant) who worked at the Starbucks. She could be a basic bitch and get an iced coffee and tip way too well.

However, today, as she was grabbing her order, the gremlin slipped, and fell in just such a way that Rey took a bit of an accidental bite on the hand. Honestly, there was no reason for this freak accident to happen. Made no sense.
