Luke's Diner; Tuesday [06/18].

When Ignis came into the diner that morning, he was a little surprise to smell that someone was already cooking. Grilling, to be more specific, and, with curiosity, he immediately headed into the kitchen to investigate.

"What is that you're making?" he asked, though he had some ideas, the clear scent of seared beef wafting over. "Did you have your own idea for a new recipeh to explore today?"

Greg answered that, yes, he did, and would Ignis mind if it was one of the specials for today? Perhaps he should have asked for more details first, but Ignis nodded and agreed that he certainly didn't mean to hog the specials board every week, he'd be happy to have someone else contribute their own ideas. Because he instantly regretted it once he did find out more. But, by then, there was nothing he could do about it, because Greg wrote the specials board for him, and was going to put it on there with our without his blessing anyway.

Liliana glided into the restaurant with her usual effortless grace, but stopped suddenly when she caught glimpse of the specials board.

"Darling," she said, sounding puzzled as she made her slightly belated way to the counter. "I have several questions."

Ignis gave a soft sigh, the sort of sigh that suggested he'd been quite expecting something like this, or perhaps had already been dealing with similar responses all morning.

"And how many of those questions," he replied, "would be summarily answered if I merely told you: Greg?"

"Well, then I'd be left wondering how the patchouli oil was used in the recipe," Liliana sniffed. "It certainly answers my why at least and I've decided I'm not particularly interested in the how."

Not if Greg was the one who was going to be explaining it anyway.

"Though, my love, now I must ask you a question. Why?" You needed to have a strict hand with your underlings, beloved.

Underlings had never exactly been Ignis' style. He was more than happy to leave that sort of business to other, while he just worked on orchestrating the unseen.

"It's important to foster creativity when the opportunity arises," he explained, though there was a sort of hesitant pause before amending, "within reason. And we are a team. Just because I tend to have the most complete perspectives on the specials while I am here, I would be remiss to not let my fellow coworkers...shine, as it were, in their....own unique ways..."

And if that sounded a bit like a rote response that he'd perhaps been repeating in his head like a mantra to convince his own self, well...

Her expression was profoundly skeptical, Ignis. Just like. So skeptical.

"Ah," she said slowly. "How very...team-minded of you, darling." And this was how you got ended up with non-Euclidean options on the specials board.

...As a black mana user, Liliana believed very strongly in underlings. And the necessities of keeping them constrained, in necessary.

"I do believe I shall continue my streak in asking you for things off-menu, as it were."
