Luke's Diner; Tuesday [08/06].
If anyone could be forgiven for not noticing the island's change of scenery, it would probably be Ignis. The scent of the air around him was different enough to catch his attention, like a little pin of something to keep the back of his mind, but since the streets and buildings had maintained that familiarity he was rather dependant on for getting around easily, he didn't think much of it.
Besides, he was too busy thinking, still, about this weekend, and realizing the tragedy that was being able to remember seeing again, albeit from someone else's eyes, only to have Liliana a squirrel the whole time.
Truly, there was no great justice in the world.
But at least he could console himself in the kitchen.

Because that was what she was doing. With all the drama fitting of the scenario.
"My darling, I--oh!" Someone had noticed the Specials.

The interrupted greeting caused Ignis to frown slightly, honing his ears for anything that might have sounded off, and the frown deepening in disappointment of the other members for not letting him know if something was amiss that day. Clearly nothing too concerning if he hadn't noticed, but still, a little troubling, none the less.
"Is there something the matter, my love?" he asked, forgoing reaching a hand across the counter in favor of just coming around it to go to her instead.

This past weekend had been utterly insupportable, honestly now.
"You made the cake," she said, as if that explained everything. Her hands came up to cup his face and the kiss she bestowed was much gentler than her wont - and would be if she'd caught wind of the sass in his narrative.

Well, for a good, long while anyway.
And a good long while was a good description of how long Ignis let himself melt into that kiss, once delivered. That statement did explain a lot of her reaction, actually, and then some, and the staff would now be spared any ire or lectures about sharing important details. And he held on and lingered in that gentle kiss as long as he could manage, because how much nicer was it, to just appreciate that she noticed, instead of worrying about discussing why there was anything to notice at all?
"Well," he finally said, resting his forehead against hers, "I know it's hardly groundbreaking, but I do rather enjoy making it."

She wasn't going to be caught doing it ever again.
...She would have someone else handle the sifting next February.
"It's lucky it's a particularly delicious cake."

And then she laughed, soft and low, squeezing his hand and stealing a kiss.
Another one to enjoy and linger in before Liliana inevitably sprang her trap to talk about the circumstances precipitating the cake.

"Give me just a moment, then?" Ignis offered, giving her hand a small squeeze and lifting it to his lips to brush a kiss against it before disengaging with that always-odious task of relinquishing it for other tasks. "I'll meet you in the booth?"
Where he would return, in due time, not only with the cakes, but also two mugs of coffee, and a quickly thrown together charcuterie, because of course he wasn't about to allow Liliana to get away with just cake for lunch.
"Bon appetit, mon coeur, " he said, carefully setting the things balanced skillfully on the table, before sliding into the seat next to Liliana with a kiss and a renewal of bets behind the counter, because, technically, they could still leave before eating, it wasn't over yet!

"Merci, ma moitiƩ," she said, taking a forkful of cake. Mmm, just as delicious as always, the delicate cake practically dissolving on her tongue in a way that had nothing to do with sifted flour being involved.
The next forkful, she held up for him.

And Ignis' hearing was definitely good enough to catch some murmured comment about them now speaking French at each other from the kitchen.
Probably the eyeroll that went with it, as well.
But no matter. All it accomplished was making him grin that much more as he sensed the offering. Perfect for leaning in to put an arm around Liliana as he took that bite, his other hand reaching for one of the mugs to wash it down with, after a small, appreciative hum.
"And you've plans to put up flyers for the party after this, almost idle in its conversational drawl.

The fingernail that traced up his wrist was coincidence.
