Around town (aka Santa Monica, CA)- Monday early morning
The island had finally reached the end of Route 66. Welcome to Santa Monica!
Leaving the causeway would put you in the middle of… well, okay, the Promenade was mostly high end stores, but there were restaurants and a farmer's market. How many people had been to a mall? Here's one!
If you were tired of the heat, good thing it was a perfect 78 degrees here and sunny. The island cacti had been replaced by palm trees, and there were a few new additions in the form of an In-N-Out, Islands, and an Erewhon. Try the Hailey Bieber smoothie! It's literally $19.
The beach on the island was looking a little different. Do you surf? Have some actual waves! And the boardwalk now looked like the Santa Monica Pier, full of shops and unhealthy snacks, plus a Ferris wheel and some other rides. If you're gonna end a trip, go out with a bang.
Speaking of, people might notice what felt and sounded like heavy footsteps throughout the day. The unfamiliar could probably write it off as a series of bitty earthquakes. Surely it was nothing.
[Last day! A post will go up in the morning for fighty at sunset.]
