Trooper Station, Friday

A new semester- and taking a class again- meant a new routine, coming in and getting the station ready for the day, and then leaving for class.

Returning, this time, with several pints of vegan ice cream that he put in the break room freezer until he could take them home. Along with a couple non-vegan varieties for the Troopers because he wasn't heartless.

Steven had stopped off at the Trooper Station before class to meet up with Llewellyn and to get their lunch sorted away for when they came back.

When they did come back, Steven beelined for the fridge to get their food and start heating it up in the microwave. Once it was ready, Steven carefully carried two bowls back to Llewellyn's office.

"Still have your appetite?" Steven asked when he came back in.

"Always, darling," Watts assured him.

Had he deliberately held himself back from sampling as much as he'd been tempted to, in order to ensure as much? Well, maybe. Chances were he still would've been hungry regardless, but he was conscious of the fact that Steven would might worry about such things.

Steven worried about a lot of things, so that had been a fair assumption.

There was already some of Llewellyn's bread set out on his desk. To which Steven put down two bowls of Tuscan stew, which he then presented with a flourish!

"Voila!" he said. Then immediately looked worried. "Hopefully it survived the wait all right? It's hot from the microwave, we've at least got that going."

Watts inhaled deeply as he moved to pull Steven's chair out for him. "It certainly smells wonderful. And that's usually a good sign."

Steven took the chair with a grateful smile. "I looked up recipes that said they would reheat well, just for this."

"Clever," Watts declared, punctuating his statement with a kiss to Steven's cheek.

"Thank you," Steven said. He went to take a spoonful of his stew, then hesitated. "This feels strange. Hello, you. I know we came back together but it's odd to be having lunch in your office without that as the start."

"Hello, you," Watts replied with a fond smile. "It's a change, but we'll grow accustomed to it. I hope."

Steven leaned over to give Llewellyn a kiss. "There. Now the greeting's complete. And it's a matter of getting used to it, I suppose. Figuring it out as we go."

"Agreed," Watts said. "And- not that you need to make something like this every time, but the weather turning does make it ideal for soups and stews," he pointed out. "Which reheat nicely."

[hasaknightjob]

"And they go well with your bread," Steven said, pointing to it proudly. "Though I did almost make sandwiches."

Because bread, you see.

"So it is a good thing I had some ready for you either way."

As if their household was ever in danger of being breadless.

"You spoil me," Steven said. He blew on his stew to cool it. "Makes easy to add things to lunch when I make it."

"It inspires you to make all sorts of delicious meals, which in turn make me feel rather spoiled," Watts pointed out before spooning up a mouthful of stew. "Oh, that's good," he commented, savoring the taste.

"Yeah?" Steven had of course tried it when he was making it, but it was nice to see Llewellyn enjoying it too. Steven took his own spoonful. "Oh I think that worked well! Flavors blended for the wait."

"It all mingles together rather nicely," Watts agreed. "Much like you and I," he couldn't resist adding with a playful grin.

Steven grinned back. "We certainly improve the more time we are together as well, you ask me."

"Yes, exactly," Watts agreed, pleased that Steven not only got what he was going for but continued it.

"I certainly don't mind resting with you overnight either," Steven added.

[pocketpretzels]

"Hopefully not in a refrigerator," Watts said. "Although... I suppose that'd provide a good excuse to huddle together for warmth."

"Speaking of," Steven said, "there is our camping trip to consider. When should we go?"

Watts perked up at that, and then his shoulders slumped slightly as he realised: "Oh. This weekend's probably too short of notice."

"You mean tomorrow?" Steven asked. "That is a bit too soon, yeah. What about next weekend though?"

That was one advantage to being on one's own: the ability to just take off whenever he pleased. Not that he'd trade what he had now for that, not by a long shot.

"Next weekend- Yes. I'd like that. You'd be amenable?"

"Could go Friday afternoon?" Steven suggested. "So we'd not need to miss Stark's class?"
