Il Pollo, Thursday Evening

Lydia had handwavily sent out some texts and called upon Il Pollo earlier in the week to make sure they could accommodate a party of uncertain size, and now the time had come for the first gathering of what Lydia was thinking of as the Supper Club. As the de facto hostess, she did hope everything went well, but she had already spotted tiramisu on the menu, so she was sure it would.

How about your pre-dinner sitting there awkwardly needs? Because Flint was choosing that option. He had a glass of rum from somewhere to give his hands something to do and was scoping out the exits without looking like he was scoping out the exits.

Lydia did so hope this went well, but was ruthlessly repressing her most Mrs. Bennet-ish anxious fluttering tendencies. The nerves probably still showed through.

"Hi Lyd!" Kamala said cheerfully as she entered the restaurant. "This is a great idea! I always like trying new foods! Unless it's a poke bowl. Unless you like raw fish in a bowl but that's just me."

"'Lyd?'" Lydia echoed. She wasn't at all sure about that, she was afraid. She was substantially less sure about, "Raw...raw fish? Did they forget to cook it?"

Wait until sushi week!

To discover that his reputation as a so-called 'foodie' had preceded him enough to receive an invitation to this newly formed Supper Club had been both a surprise and an honor to Ignis. And considering that he knew that socialization was something he did not always excel at,he figured it would be quite prudent to accept the invitation. So he was there, making his way into Il Pollo to add his own particular brand of expertise to the endeavor.

Besides, he was so devoted to his own culinary arts that he rarely bothered to enjoy many of the local restaurants, and it seemed like an excellent opportunity to remedy that in a fashion that didn't leave him feeling like he should have just cooked at home...

Flint took a guess about the glasses and forewent his usual silent nod of acknowledgement for a small grunt instead.

And a grunt, unfortunately, especially a small one, could be for a great memany things. It didn't quirk Ignis' attention slightly, but, without much more to go on than that, it could have just as likely been because someone had bumped into a chair, for all her knew.

(Well, no, not really. If it had been that, he'd had also heart the chair, but that was hardly the point).

Logan was here because Flint mentioned free food. He was not here for whatever the hell this shit all was.

Hence how he was just sticking to the edges of it. Next time he'd know better than to trust Flint.

"Good evening, sir," Lydia said with a neat little curtsey. "I do not believe we have been introduced. I am Miss Lydia Bennet, and I'm so pleased you could join us."

Honestly, she was neutral because she hadn't the faintest clue who this was, but it was what you said.

Kamala was sitting in the lobby and going over the menu and trying to decide which form of pasta and sauce she was craving.

"Does anyone know what a piccata is?" Flint asked, squinting at the menu.

It wasn't pronounced the way he was saying it, for one.

"Apparently it involves lemon juice and capers," Lydia read off her phone. "I thought capers were like...japes."

They were doing great.

Lydia was searching various terms on her phone as she encountered them on the menu, and found herself extremely indecisive. Everything they'd had in Rome had been so delicious!

"Is a 'meatball' something like head cheese?" she wanted to know, because she was still a bit confused on that point, although she was relieved to learn it was not just, ah, you know. A part of the animal's anatomy.

"It's usually ground meat and formed into a ball," Kamala explained. "Sometimes it's just beef but sometimes they mix it up with pork too."

Another benefit to this supper club, Ignis realized, was that he might be able to spread a little bit of awareness for accessibility with regards to having menues in Braille.

It was no matter now, though, as he quite suspected any good Italian restaurant worthy of such a distinction would already have a good solid Bolognese, with a nice Tagliatelle on the menu without him having to actually read that it was there.

And of course he was ordering tiramisu for dessert. One for now and one to take home for Liliana unless she ended up joining them in which case, let's be real, he was still bringing home extra for Liliana regardless.

As I am almost certainly dying in a dreadful, painful,and probably permanent fashion I have a cold, I will have to make my many characters' stunning debut next week when hopefully I am dying less.
