Wanda had spent way too much money at the Spirit Halloween, which should come as a surprise to absolutely no one. She still wasn't sure what Jeff was going to be, so he was still out front naked.

You know who was definitely wearing clothes? Bucky, as he showed up, a little takeaway bag in hand. The size of two basic coffees, if one had an eye for such things.

Getting through the door with his one hand occupied remained something of a challenge, but he managed it without too much of a fuss.

Wanda was proud he managed it, but knew better to say anything.

She was also slightly tangled in fake spiderwebs so that curbed any urge to clap. "Hey--oh, ew, it's in my mouth."

"What is?"

Fake spiderweb was not exactly something Bucky would jump to first - but after he took a few steps closer, yeah, he saw what it was.

"Oh. Isn't it a little early for that?"

"Early? I'm behind," she said, pulling the spiderwebs down away from her face so it was now more like a spooky scarf. "Spooky season started back in August when the pumpkin spice lattes came back."

"Halloween now gets a whole season?"

He'd known this once, as a young man overseeing the various candy-centric holidays from behind the counter at Wonka's. But that had been a long time ago.

"Yeah, it's about on par with Christmas now," Wanda said. "I'd celebrate Halloween all year round, but I don't think I'm ready to be that much of a witch cliché."

One day, maybe.

"How have you been?"

"It's been quiet," Bucky replied, lifting the takeout bag onto the counter, careful of whatever Halloween stuff was on there. "Jesse dragged me to that island with the big furniture store, and I was in Wakanda before that for... A while."

Like a month, that 'while'.

Also yes, he was aware neither of those things answered 'how have you been?'

"Wakanda is nice." She just wished she had been there under better circumstances. "Get anything good at Ikea?"

Something that didn't require 500 dowels to build, maybe?

"Stuff I don't think I need."

But which Jesse had seemed insistent he did.

He produced one coffee from the bag, then another.

"Plants I'm not sure will survive."

"This for me?" Wanda asked, nodding down at one of the coffees. "And I don't want to worry you, but you need to be careful about plants around here. I was given one and things got...weird."

"It's for you," Bucky confirmed, giving the cup in gesture a little demonstrative nudge before picking up the other one.

And then raising his eyebrows just a little.

"Weird like how?"

"Thank you," she said, picking up the cup and taking a sip before continuing. "So, this was when I was kinda evil and doing evil magic stuff? And I think doing it around the plant affected it in a bad way. Because Steve went to check on my apartment and the plant...captured him."

"A plant captured Steve," Bucky replied, slowly, checking he'd gotten that right. "Steve Rogers, Steve?"

What, there could be others.

“That would be the one,” she said with a nod. “Apparently the plant basically took over my whole apartment. Tony had to free him.”
