Plant Parenthood; Friday [12/06].
Eleanor was really hoping to get to work on some potions and salves and some seedlings even to send home to Luma, since the two of them had spent a lot of time going over things for the new greenhouse over the holiday break, but the island, it seemed, had a different plan.
Because there were an awful lot of tiny horses everywhere, and apparently, tiny horses loved getting into plants and disturbing the soil and so now Eleanor was sorting to have to play plantguard to make sure that all the horses didn't mess up all of Nell's nice plants in the shop.
This eventually lead to her trying to create a little bit of a corral for the horses, which actually proved effective, but had been a lot of work, because she didn't have the natural herding abilities she just sort of assumed the werewolf side of her family would have.
(She did discover, entirely by accident, that she could command the horses and they'd listen, but she felt bad using her powers even on tiny horses that would probably cease to exist tomorrow).

She held up the tiny horse.
"-I have made a new friend. I am calling him Fredo."
At which point Fredo let out a tiny whinny which made Kamala squeal a bit because it was just adorable.

"Well," she said, "I hope Fredo plans on behaving, otherwise I'm putting him in the pen with the others. If I have to repot another plant today, I'm going to lose it."
But also, Kamala's arrival already had her feeling slightly better about everything and, recognizing that, she had to drift over and give her a small, brief, somewhat exhausted kiss in greeting.
"Hi."

She opened the door and put Fredo out on the stoop. "Stay out there and be good Fredo. I'll come back for you."
Closing the door Kamala turned back and put her hands on Eleanor's shoulders. "You look frazzled. How can I help?"

"Well, now," she said, the furrow in her brow slightly apologetic, "I just feel bad that he has to wait outside."

Well. She could. But she didn't want it to have to come to that.

With a quick flick of her hands, pink and purplish walls sprang up, reinforcing the pen and corralling the tiny ponies with ease. She crouched down to their level, hands on her knees as she spoke, her tone both amused and encouraging.
“Let me tell you something,” she said, quoting
meta forThe Shawshank Redemption with dramatic flair. “Hope is a good thing. Maybe the best of things. And no good thing ever dies.”The tiny horses whinnied softly, as if taking her words to heart. Kamala stood back up, hands on her hips, surveying her handiwork. "See? They’re already inspired."

And she was getting a kiss on the cheek for her efforts, too. "Thanks."

With that, she gave Eleanor’s hand another reassuring squeeze.
"Can I help you with repotting or anything?" she asked. "I feel like I'm on a roll with this whole supportive girlfriend thing."

Her attention shifted with a sigh toward a poor trampled bit of mint.
"Definitely not tiny horse wrangling, though. You, though....I mean, you even made friends with one!"
She was wondering if there was anything she could still do to make it up to poor Fredo for his exile, but, she also figured that if she tried to, she'd probably just make it worse, and he'd be gone tomorrow, anyway, so it was probably best for everyone if she just didn't.
