Cafe Fina, Thursday Evening

It was Thursday, which meant it was time for Supper Club! This week brought them at last to Cafe Fina, where Lydia did hope no one would find it too strange to eat from the singing, dancing tableware. Herself, she was rather looking forward to seeing the number they'd been rehearsing when she'd popped by to make the reservation.

Cafe Fina is open! Welcome to Supper Club, everyone!

"I can only imagine," Ignis noted, "that, around here, one might receive wishes and blessings from a plethora of otherwise unheard of holidays from across the multiverse, really. But...no, not particularly. There...hasn't been much to celebrate, on Eos, until very recently. There are some regional festivals, especially in Altissia, and Insomnia had its Founders Day, and I understand that celebrating the day of the New Dawn has become quite the understandable annual well-to-do."

If he seemed to look slightly uncomfortable at the notion, then it was not Percy's imagination. But Ignis smiled slightly to push through it.

"But gifts given to the extent of Christmas really only occurs for birthdays and perhaps other, smaller, more personal events."

"That is a tradition I can more than get behind," Percy agreed. "I'm not a religious person by any means but I can more than get behind local customs and traditions where gift-giving is appropriate."

"I've found even the most curmudgenonly disposition often softens in the face of a well-thought-out gift for the right reasons," Ignis agreed, absolutely counting himself in that particular category. "But, good. I'm glad you were able to enjoy it. And now there's a bit of a breather in the wake of the new year."

"Yes," Percy said watching his dish run away with the spoon. "I will say it was nice to wake up one morning and not find an oddity to deal with.

Oh, today was absolutely one of those days where Ignis was almost grateful that his particular affliction made it that much easier to ignore some oddities like the one occurring now. If it weren't for everyone's reaction to it, he might have even been able to go on with just assuming these songsters were not silverware, that the bowls were not balladeers or the carafes choristers, either....

"ALthough one must stay on their toes a bit more now," he warned, "as from here on in, such oddities will feel almost frustratingly random and without reason."

“Fortunately I have been with compatriots who are often random and without reason.”

Yes. He was thinking of Grog and Scanlan.

“Are the other random events of similar ilk?”

Ignis gave a thoughtful hum, a hand to his chin as he considered. "Well, I suppose," he mused, "by what you mean by 'similar ilk.' There's certainly nothing I can think of at the moment that has quite the thematic perseverance as the month of December, where it last quite that long and toward a specific thing at a relatively light and innocuous level of whimsy or annoyance. Although...." His head tilted faintly as he seemed to be ordering thoughts and experiences. "I do believe the pollen is usually a springtime occurrence, which does rather stand to reason as that just aligns with the nature of season..."

There was a slight pause as he realized that might need a bit more explaining.

"It isn't normal pollen," he added. "It has a rather...aphrodisiacal quality to it, and we're usually beset with it for a full week before the air starts to clear again."

“Well. That’s a curious thing,” Percy said after blinking a few times. “I do have a mask that filters certain items from the air but wearing it for a week sounds rather tedious.”
