Trooper Station, Friday

Not being much of a morning person, Watts very rarely caught the actual live radio broadcasts of the previous day's news, and so relied on the digital recordings. Only sometimes, he fell behind in listening to those, even. So every once and a while, he'd find himself with several broadcasts to listen to all at once in order to feel fully caught up, and what better time to do that than while at work?

Last Friday's broadcast in particular had him breaking out the google in order to look up a few things. "Hmmm," he said to himself as he clicked on yet another Wikipedia article. "Interesting."

At lunchtime, there was of course a Steven at his office door. "Hello, you."

Watts looked up from his mobile telephone and beamed. "Hello, you," he replied.

"Am I interrupting?" Steven asked, indicating Llewellyn's mobile.

[pocketpretzels]

"I suppose in the very literal sense of the word, yes," Watts said, putting his phone aside. "However, it would be a welcome one even if you weren't here for our well-established tradition of lunch together." And at least he hadn't been so focused on his research that he'd missed Steven's arrival?

Steven closed the door behind him as he came towards Llewellyn's desk. "All right. I could always wait a moment if you needed though? No problem at all?"

"No problem at all," Watts assured him, standing up. "I prefer your company."

"All right then," Steven said. He put the bag down on Llewellyn's desk then smiled up at him. "Hello, you."

"Hello, you," Watts repeated, pulling him in for a kiss.

Steven kissed back, sighing happily. "Good to see you again."

From the mere hours they'd been apart.

"The best part of my day so far," Watts agreed happily, keeping hold of Steven even after the kiss was done.

That was all right. Steven was in no rush to go anywhere. "Thank you. Highlight of mine as well. Not because of the food, mind."

"I was not thinking of the food either," Watts said. "Well. I suppose I was, in that I always enjoy what you've made, but it's your company I value most."

"I do hope you like the food though," Steven said. "I made something that I hope makes you smile."

"My curiosity is piqued," Watts admitted, finally letting go of Steven so he could pull his chair out for him.

Steven took the offered seat with a smile. He then unpacked the bag, inside of which was an insulated container of stew. Steven portioned it out into bowls, making sure Llewellyn got extra ingredients, before adding slices of Llewellyn's bread to the side. He then presented them with a flourish. "Ta da!"

And indeed, there was a beaming smile as soon as Watts realised what Steven hade made. "Your specialty!" he exclaimed, pleased.

Steven beamed, pleased Llewellyn had guessed why he'd made it. "Exactly! You see? Thought it might make you smile."

Also Steven was still chuffed to learn he had a specialty.

"It smells delicious," Watts said, after inhaling deeply over his bowl. "And looks wonderfully hearty."

"Good for the season I thought," Steven said. "Warm and comforting."

[pocketpretzels]

"Much like you," Watts said fondly. "Perhaps that's why you're so good at them."

[hasaknightjob]

Steven chuckled. "Thank you. I like thinking that I've cooked you something that makes you feel loved. At home."

[pocketpretzels]

"You take such wonderful care of me," Watts told him, scooping up a spoonful and making an appreciative noise as he tasted it.

Steven beamed proudly now that he knew Llewellyn liked it. "It's my pleasure. Glad it hits the spot."

He had a spoonful of his own stew, then asked, "What were you doing when I came in? If you don't mind sharing."

"Ah, just- researching some things on the google," Watts said. "Did you know they've vaccines for all sorts of illnesses?"

Steven blinked, because his baseline assumption for this conversation was nowhere near Llewellyn's. "Er - did they come out with new ones you mean?"
