Rey would have been able to downplay how she herself was feeling for a bit, but it was harder to do when part of your skill set was being able to read the feelings and emotions off people around you, which was the real reason she hated this week. She'd tried to get ahead of it and called home to schedule a trip, and got an answer that basically amounted to "The Falcon is getting some work done, it's fine but maybe you could go do this other activity!" and at least she had something else to worry about as a distraction.

So she went to work, and she was practicing shielding. Like every day. All week. Not annoying at all.

Anakin had missed Friday because Christopher had a dental appointment, so he swung by Stark's to say hello.

"...is that gremlin waving provocatively at me?"

Say no, Rey. Save his brain.

"I don't know what a provocative wave would be so I'm going to say no," she answered.

"That! They're fluttering their eyelashes at me!"

Or blinking. Probably just blinking.

"Don't look, trust me, just don't," she told him.

Don't look anywhere.

"But I really need a coffee," Anakin sighed.

[thatwaslucky]

"Do you need coffee more than you need gremlins flirting with you?" she asked.

Blame two decades of Gilmore influence: "Yes."

[thatwaslucky]

"Then I'm afraid you're going to have to-" Nope, not gonna say suck it up, that was weird. "-deal with them." Better.

Anakin sighed dramatically. "Would you like something too?"

[thatwaslucky]

"No, thank you, I do not need to be any more alert."

She might try to crash for the night right after work. It wouldn't happen, but she might try.

Anakin nodded and then marched over to the kiosk, made no eye contact, and ordered a giant coffee.

Rey made sure to put herself in a position to watch, and judge if the gremlins really were attempting to be inappropriate.

"Well, I have a coffee addressed to Nick covered in hearts and a gremlin's phone number, so that will haunt my dreams," Anakin announced when he'd scurried back across the room.

"This is why it's the worst week," she said.

Of course it was, if you were uptight about it.

Anakin laughed. "Rory wasn't complaining." Too much information, Anakin.

[thatwaslucky]

"No," she said, so quickly.

[sith_happened]

Anakin smirked at her.

[thatwaslucky]

"I don't need to know anything," she told him.

[sith_happened]

Anakin's smile widened. "I won't share."

[thatwaslucky]

"Thank you. I hate this week."

She'd said.

"What part of it?" Anakin asked.

[thatwaslucky]

"Having to shield the whole time because no one else shuts off their brain. Everything sounding dirty. Oversharing."

Being single, but she wasn't going to say that.

"So much oversharing," Anakin agreed.

[thatwaslucky]

He was so close to a mocking 'Rory's not complaining' but this was day one and that was really more of a day six reaction, or else she was going to have a really rough week.

"That includes you."

[sith_happened]

"Oh," Anakin said. "Sorry."

[thatwaslucky]

"Accepted," she said.

She was going to be so mad at everything by day six.

That was fair. "Does that mean you'll be avoiding Caritas?" he teased.

[thatwaslucky]

"I'm training, I'm going to Supper Club, and no one is going to see me outside of that," she said firmly.

That would not be true.

Anakin smiled. "That seems like a good plan."

[thatwaslucky]

"It's annoying," she said.

Wait till Saturday, sweetie.

[sith_happened]

"It's always annoying," Anakin admitted.

[thatwaslucky]

"You have it easier," Rey pointed out.

She genuinely didn't mind being single any other time of the year.

[sith_happened]

"I do, but I promise not to overshare," Anakin teased, sipping his coffee.

[thatwaslucky]

"Thank you," she said. "I can't even go home for the week."

[sith_happened]

"Why not?" Anakin asked.

[thatwaslucky]

"I'm worried they broke my ship," she said. "And either I'm going to have to kill them or I'm going to be too distracted to make it worse so Chewie can handle it, and I'll live through the week."

See, rational.

"That actually makes sense," Anakin said.

[thatwaslucky]

"I might regret it."

Probably not.

[sith_happened]

"But this is the path you have chosen," Anakin intoned, then grinned, imitation of a Very Serious Jedi over.

[thatwaslucky]

"Ugh," she said eloquently.

[sith_happened]

"that wasn't charming?" Anakin asked.

[thatwaslucky]

"Next week things can be charming again," she decided.

[sith_happened]

Anakin laughed. "Work on your shielding this week," he said.

The look Rey gave him clearly said she was already doing that.

Apparently this was going to be a tough week for her!
