Once again, someone was trying to recycle a raccoon by bringing it to the Trooper Station.

And once again, the raccoon in question bit the person attempting to recycle it. Which quite frankly, Watts couldn't even blame it? And yet. Still the sort of offense that landed said raccoon in one of the cells for a night or two.

Not long after Llewellyn arrived at work, a delivery of red roses in a golden vase came.

The card with it said Flowers for my dearest. I love you. Steven.

Yes, Watts was expecting Steven to arrive with lunch later that day, and yes, he fully intended to thank him in person for the flowers when he did so. But he was also going to send a text as soon as the delivery person left, with a photo of the flowers accompanied by the caption: 🍞 yuo

A text came back.

🍞 you too. See you at lunch.

At noon, there was a Steven at Llewellyn's office door. "Hello, you."

"Hello, you!"

Did Watts practically spring from his desk, reach past Steven to firmly shut the door, and then whirl around to enthusiastically pounce upon him with a kiss? You bet.

Steven squeaked with surprise, but happily returned the kiss once he realized what was happening.

"Thank you for my flowers," Watts said, when the kiss finally ended.

[hasaknightjob]

"I'm glad you like them," Steven said. "I thought about bringing them in person but then I thought a delivery would give you two nice things for your day? Not just one?"

"It provided a lovely start to the day," Watts affirmed. "And this a most enjoyable midpoint."

[hasaknightjob]

"I thought since I missed getting you flowers for Valentine's," Steven said. "You could have your roses now instead. Because I love you."

"It was very gallant of you," Watts said with a smile.

[hasaknightjob]

"That's why it's roses," Steven explained, realizing perhaps that hadn't been clear. "Traditional Valentine's bouquet, you see. For my Valentine."

"Oh!" Watts nodded. He then looked concerned. "I hope you don't mind- that your bouquet included a sunflower?" he checked.

"Oh no, no," Steven quickly assured him. Then he frowned. "Er - yes? I mean whichever one means I loved my bouquet, sunflower and all. It's that for your bouquet I wanted to give you something traditionally Valentine's, to make up for how I didn't give you one on the day itself."

"I see," Watts nodded, relieved that his own departure from tradition hadn't been a problem. "That is very sweet of you. Thank you."

"You don't mind that mine is entirely roses?" Steven asked, just to check.

[pocketpretzels]

"I don't mind at all," Watts assured him. "I promise."

[hasaknightjob]

"Wonderful," Steven said. "I'm glad we can be honest about such things. Shall we to lunch then?"

[pocketpretzels]

"We shall," Watts agreed, doing a half-turn so he could reach and pull Steven's chair out for him.

[hasaknightjob]

Steven smiled in gratitude for the gesture as he sat. "Cheers. I hope you like it. It's a bit unusual for the time of year? But that's why I did it."

"I am officially intrigued," Watts declared.

[hasaknightjob]

"I know this time of year can be hard on you, cold and dark and all," Steven said. He began unpacking their meal. "So I thought I'd make something that evokes the tropics?"

With that he presented a lunch in a pineapple half.

"Ta da?"

"How charming!" Watts exclaimed, meaning both Steven's efforts and the pineapple itself.

"Suitable for warm and sunny weather," Steven said. "I know it's not at the moment, but perhaps for lunch time this can help us pretend?"

Watts nodded. "It's very clever," he said.
