Rey's warehouse- Friday afternoon

Most of the time Rey tried to be serious when it came to her training. She wasn't strict about it, but she tried to get better at things for the times she had to use those skills, since it would wreck a lot of things if she died.

Once in a while she did stuff just for fun. Like climbing the wall with the timer on her phone set to see if she could beat the last time. It'd been a while. She kind of missed it.

"Rey?" Anakin called cautiously from the door. "Is it still dusty?"

"Everywhere I found dust has been cleaned," she says from halfway up the wall. She was going to have to not count the time on this one. "Which is not to say there's not more."

"Maybe the woodchucks are cleaning up after themselves again," Anakin said, stepping inside.

[thatwaslucky]

She dropped down off the wall into a standing position. "Oh, they did nothing, it was all me."

"They didn't throw things as you worked, though, right?" Anakin checked.

[thatwaslucky]

"No, I got off easy there for once," she said. "I might get it extra next week."

[sith_happened]

"They do like to keep you on your toes," Anakin said.

[thatwaslucky]

"It's not my favorite," she said. "And yet it's sometimes helpful."

[sith_happened]

"If it makes you feel better, it's very realistic for Jedi training. Training was full of more annoyances than you'd think," Anakin said.

[thatwaslucky]

"Besides things like remotes and lava?"

Lava was an annoyance, apparently?

Like the quicksand by the door.

"It was a lot more rock lifting than I had anticipated, even in the Temple."

[thatwaslucky]

"We've graduated to boulders here," she said.

[sith_happened]

"I think we've graduated from rocks after throwing that boulder," Anakin said with a grin.

[thatwaslucky]

"Point," she said. "I do try to throw annoyances in. Things that could distract me."

[sith_happened]

"That's a good thing to do," Anakin agreed, nodding.

[thatwaslucky]

"And I will take any suggestions you could think of for more," she said. "I could still stand to work on this."

"You want me to come up with more annoyances?" Anakin teased. "I can call in Juliet and Christopher..."

[thatwaslucky]

"I would welcome them," she said, serious.

[sith_happened]

"Really?" Anakin asked. "Because they'd be thrilled to come over."

[thatwaslucky]

"Of course. I don't really get to do any of this around people." It was like Anakin and Finn, basically.

[sith_happened]

"And they would really like to be trained by someone not me," Anakin said with a laugh.

[thatwaslucky]

"I'm still working on that part too," she warned.

[sith_happened]

"I can supervise your training, if that would make you feel more comfortable."

[thatwaslucky]

"Yes, please," Rey said immediately. "Maybe you can tell me where I'm going wrong with Finn."

"I'd be happy to offer my opinions," Anakin said.

[thatwaslucky]

"Thank you. He and I had some trouble there last time I was home," she said.

[sith_happened]

"What sort of trouble?" Anakin asked, starting to climb the wall.

[thatwaslucky]

"I think I don't know exactly how to correct something when it's wrong," she said, watching him. "So much of my learning has been non-traditional so I have a hard time explaining things in a way that amounts to more than 'you just do it.'"

Fold in the cheese, as it were.

"Oh, I can see that," Anakin said, nodding. "I can help with that."

"Thank you," she said. "I ended up doing something Leia would do, when she'd let me go on instinct and see what happened."

[sith_happened]

"I warn you that some of the reason is because Jedi always do it that way," Anakin added.

[thatwaslucky]

"That's another thing," she said. "It seems to be harder when you're not in the middle of a crisis."

[sith_happened]

"Crisis tends to focus the mind," Anakin said. "There's no time to second-guess anything."

[thatwaslucky]

"And there's more opportunity to try," Rey nodded. "There's always something happening there, but I'm one person trying to find it."

[sith_happened]

"And that can feel overwhelming," Anakin said, nodding.

[thatwaslucky]

Rey held up her hand to make the 'tiny bit' gesture. "And no matter what I do, it's not enough because it's just me."

[sith_happened]

"Think of it more from the perspective of all the things that wouldn't be done without you," Anakin advised.

[thatwaslucky]

"I try. And when the day comes that I can find others- as soon as I figure out how to do that- and train them successfully, it'll get easier."

Hopefully.

"I hope so," Anakin said. "You could ask my son about it."

He was still a mostly optimistic version of a Luke.

"I need to," she agreed. "That talk might take six hours."

[sith_happened]

"I think he'd be happy to help," Anakin said with a smile.

[thatwaslucky]

"I'll get in touch with him," she said.

[sith_happened]

"He'd love that," Anakin said. "...I don't actually know what he's up to right now."

[thatwaslucky]

"At all?" she asked.

[sith_happened]

"I believe he was tracking down rumors of beings with Force sensitivity," Anakin said.

[thatwaslucky]

"Then hopefully he has time to talk to me," she said.

[sith_happened]

"Luke always has time for family," Anakin said.
