The Magpie Emporium; Friday [04/25].
With today being the last day of classes, Graham knew that it was almost time to head back to Daventry and focus on his knight work once again, and he'd been doing a pretty good job of not thinking about it too much, but when he came into the shop that Friday, it was really starting to catch up with him. Granted, he knew that, barring anything unexpected, he could always just pop back every once in a while to see his friends, or pick up new TTRPG stuff, or have Squishies or chat with the squirrels, but what if he ended up too busy? What if something did happen to the portals back and forth? What if....what if this was it?
It helped, knowing that both Amaya and Irene back home also had connections to here that in a way would help keep it alive, especially Irene, since she wasn't originally from their world at all. He was still going to miss everyone, though, and it was a lot harder than he wanted to admit or recognize.
So, instead, he just reminded himself that the last time he'd left, he thought it would be for good, but he'd still come back for one more huzzah, and so you know what? There would probably be a lot more ahead, too!
And with that in mind, he was additionally distracting himself by making himself a list of all the things he wanted to get from the store before heading back to Daventry, and, once that very, very, very long list was finished, going through it and trying to whittle it down to something a bit more reasonable, and a task that hefty was definitely going to eat up a lot of his time.

"Any excitement to be found in the shop today?"
Less excitement than the last time they'd hung out, she hoped. Sally had been delightful but a bit exhausting and a second future child this quickly would really be a bit too much.
no subject
But, thankfully, no potential kids from days of royal futures around today! Just a lowly rookie knight with a big grin and a slight bow and a tip of his hat.
"Greetings, my lady!" he greeted her back. "Nothing too exciting....yet! But, as will most exciting things, that could change at any moment!"
His smile went a little rueful and he gestured toward a small stack of things building on the counter.
"Mostly just figuring out what to grab to take home with me," he said, "while eating lots of potatoes. Would you like some?"
no subject
"Ooh, potatoes can be exciting," Belle said. "I would love to share some with you. Thank you for the offer, good sir."
She was going to leave the home comment unaddressed for the moment. She'd circle back if needed.

Did you like pocket potatoes, Belle? Because that's what these were, potatoes taken from his class earlier and safely tucked into the pockets of his cloak, pulled out after some scrounging and now offered out to her in the palm of his hand.
"These tots," he announced proudly, "were particularly pleasant and portable!"
What more could you want in a potato?
no subject
Things she'd found inside Graham's cloak tended to be pleasant.
"How many potatoes were there in your class?"
no subject
He sighed happily for a moment, then blinked.
"Oh, wait, I took a picture!"
Now to just find his phone amongst all the taters....
no subject
Another grin from Belle. "Was there potato candy? I've heard of that. Do you have such things at home? Such a variety of potatoes?"
no subject
Picture pulled up, he was now turning it to her to admire.
"Isn't it magnificent?? And, yeah, we've got a lot of different potatoes back home. They were a staple growing up! Daventry tends to work more in squashes and carrots, but they're not potato poor either!"
no subject
Belle paused for a moment. "I'm glad you won't be deprived of potatoes when you have to leave us."
