It seemed the lawn gnome thefts had picked up once again.

Not thefts of lawn gnomes, mind. Thefts apparently perpetuated by the lawn gnomes.

Hence why Watts was currently having some of the Troopers go out to collect the alleged thieves and bring them to a holding cell.

Only in Fandom, honestly.

"You're very conscientious," Watts said, giving Steven a kiss on the cheek.

"It was just a bit of fun," Steven said, uncertain if he'd stepped wrong. "Since you said to color you?"

Well, now Watts was frowning. "I know?" he said, now also uncertain.

"Wasn't sure if I'd said something wrong," Steven said. "Since you mentioned ruining your coat."

"Technically you mentioned it," Watts pointed out. "I only commented that I am glad it was only imaginary. I was- trying to make a humourous response of my own."

"I see," Steven said. "So it was an all right joke to make?"

"Yes," Watts assured him. "Even if I did not initially understand it."

"All right," Steven said. He looked at Llewellyn hopefully. "Could I have a hug?"

Watts's answer was to pull Steven in nice and tight.

Steven hugged him back, letting himself get resettled internally in the confidence of Llewellyn's presence.

"I love you," Watts said. "And I'm sorry I gave the impression that you'd made a misstep. I did not intend to."

"I'm sorry my head's such a muddle sometimes," Steven said. "Thank you for putting up with me."

"Never in spite, darling," Watts reminded him.

[hasaknightjob]

"Color me grateful for that?" Steven said, trying for a smile.

"Colour you a scoundrel, you mean," Watts replied.

Steven chuckled, feeling immensely better now that Llewellyn was joking. "Shall I get us our lunch?"

"Oh!" Watts said. "Yes! I want to see what this fun was you had with it," he added, moving to pull Steven's chair out for him.

Steven took the chair gratefully, then set about unpacking their meal. He got out plates and utensils before pulling out a bigger container.

"Right. Well last time we had fun with the pasties?" Steven said. He unwrapped the main dish. "So this time I thought another British classic? Steak and kidney pie. Only it's mushrooms, not steak, and the kidneys are beans."

Steven beamed at that, for obvious reasons.

"The kidneys are- oh! Because they are kidney beans?" Watts checked.

"Yes!" Steven said, looking positively delighted about that.

"Very clever," Watts said with a besotted smile. Had Steven come up with the idea? No. Not the point.

"Isn't it though?" Steven said. Now that Llewellyn had seen the pie, Steven began to portion it out, making sure Llewellyn got a larger piece.

Something that did not go unnoticed by Watts, meaning that besotted look wasn't going away anytime soon. Not even when he took his first bite.

Steven had a forkful of his own ready, but he watched Llewellyn carefully to see how he liked it.

Watts started to speak before he'd actually finished chewing. Paused. Finished chewing.

"Delicious!" he declared enthusiastically.
