It seemed the lawn gnome thefts had picked up once again.

Not thefts of lawn gnomes, mind. Thefts apparently perpetuated by the lawn gnomes.

Hence why Watts was currently having some of the Troopers go out to collect the alleged thieves and bring them to a holding cell.

Only in Fandom, honestly.

"Lucky scoundrel, to see you being extra handsome," Steven said in response to that smile.

"A clever scoundrel and a flirt," Watts added.

"A clever scoundrel who can see how handsome you are," Steven countered.

"Lucky me, then, to have found him."

[hasaknightjob]

"Right across the corridor," Steven said. "Like it was meant to be."

"Offering to help me with my boxes," Watts said fondly.

[hasaknightjob]

"Good thing they weren't too heavy," Steven said. "You and I were able to manage it by ourselves."

"And me with no earthly clue that you usually relegated such work to someone else," Watts grinned.

"Suppose it worked out that that's when you met me," Steven said. "Much more comfortable with people knowing about Marc and me today. More likely to switch."

Watts nodded. "And as incredibly fond of him as I am now, I don't think I would've found him nearly as captivating as I did you."

"Might have scared you off, way he was back then," Steven said.

As opposed to the oh so personable version of Marc these days.

(Well, he was around Watts, certainly. But Steven's point was around strangers.)

"Hm. Perhaps," Watts said lightly. "But I don't spook easily."

At least, not when it came to personalities. Loud noises and sudden movements were another matter entirely.

"That's true," Steven said. "He didn't scare you off when you first met him."

Awkward as that first meeting had been.

"I do think part of me was still experiencing a certain euphoria at finding out that the two of you were not- together in the manner in which I had imagined," Watts said.

Steven blushed at the memory. "Had no idea how I was making us sound."

"I can't have been the only one making such an assumption," Watts said.

"Oh - oh dear," Steven said. He tried to think of the various people who had been on the island back then. "Er - at least it's cleared up now?"

And Watts had been the only one with reason to be interested in Steven's relationship status, anyway. Well, aside from Liz, but she'd known the truth nearly from the start (a fact that still stung a little, even if Watts understood the reasoning).

"Clear as day," Watts nodded, with a little smile.

"Or night," Steven said with a grin. "Because, you know, avatar?"

Watts groaned. "Scoundrel."

Steven looked proud of himself. "Or knight. Because I am your gentleman."

"Scoundrel of a knight," Watts amended, utter fondness in the look he gave Steven.

[hasaknightjob]

"Your scoundrel," Steven said, looking proud of himself. Which he was, for multiple reasons.

"Mine alone," Watts agreed. "For now and always."

[hasaknightjob]

That got Steven to feel melted inside. "Very much yours alone. None other's."
