Trooper Station, Friday

As per usual, there wasn't much to do at the Trooper Station, but what there was to be done, Watts was quietly singing to himself while doing it.

Ralph had tried to join in at one point, but the other Troopers were of the opinion that he couldn't carry a tune in a bucket (you'd think they'd all have the same level of skill there, given that they were clones, but apparently not?), and thus he'd been rather quickly shushed.


[ooc: Yes, I know the song is technically after his time. But if a version 'Fairytale of New York' can canonically exist in his canon, then so can this song.]

At noon, there was a Steven. He lingered at the door of Llewellyn's office, listening to him sing.

"Heel for heel, and toe for- oh!" Watts caught sight of Steven. "Hello, you."

"Hello, you," Steven said. He came in, closing the door behind him. "That sounded lovely."

[pocketpretzels]

"Hm?" Watts replied. "Ah. Mrs. Marks used to sing it, on occasion," he shared.

"Happy memory then?" Steven asked, to check. He put the insulated bag on Llewellyn's desk.

Watts considered that. "Not an unhappy one?" he came up with, after a moment. "It's a pleasant song, though, regardless."

"Were you singing because you're in a good mood?" Steven asked.

[pocketpretzels]

"Well," Watts said with a smile. "I was expecting my husband to stop by for our usual lunch date..."

So. Yes.

"Funny thing," Steven said, grinning back at him, "I'm your husband and here I am with lunch."

"Funny thing indeed," Watts said, standing up to pull Steven in close.

Steven happily came closer. "Hello, husband."

Entirely different from "Hello, you" of course.

"Hello, husband," Watts replied, arms around Steven's waist.

Steven wrapped his arms around Llewellyn's shoulders. "First time I get to call you that here in your office. Husband."

"Still has a very nice ring to it," Watts said. "... Quite literally."

Steven giggled appreciatively. "Two nice rings, in fact."

[pocketpretzels]

"A matched set," Watts agreed.

[hasaknightjob]

"We make beautiful music together," Steven said.

[pocketpretzels]

"I did like doing that duet with you," Watts admitted.

Steven's face lit up. "Can we try that again? I'd like to do it, you and me as a married couple."

[pocketpretzels]

"Absolutely," Watts beamed back at him. "I'll put the stickers back on the keys for your part when I get home tonight."

[hasaknightjob]

"Thank you," Steven said. "Would've been lost without them. Might need you to walk me through it again as well."

Steven grinned. "Play me through it."

[pocketpretzels]

"It has been a while," Watts agreed. Even someone without memory issues would probably struggle to recall what keys to play.

[hasaknightjob]

"It'll be like riding a bike," Steven said. Then his face lit up again. "We haven't done that in ages! We should."

[pocketpretzels]

"Oh, yes," Watts agreed enthusiastically. "Perhaps this weekend."

"Oh!" Watts pulled away, suddenly remembering what had brought Steven here, pulling his chair out for him.

"Thank you, husband," Steven said as he took the chair. No, he was not tired of finding excuses to say that word. "Would you like lunch?"
