The Devil's Nest, Monday Night

Eric had been around for a thousand years and chose to live in Louisiana on purpose. It didn't mean he loved the grossest, swampiest days of August.

Anyway, that was his excuse for why it was frigid in the Devil's Nest tonight. (Of all the modern marvels, Eric loved air conditioning the most.)

The Devil's Nest was open and Tiny wouldn't blame you if you ordered a warm drink tonight.

Jaina was human again! She was also very much not amused by the last few days and so once the boys were in bed she was headed to the bar.

And immediately noting, "This is excessive."

Eric grinned. "I think it feels nice."

"Of course it does, you're dead," she pointed out, taking her seat.

Eric grinned proudly.

[solo_sword]

"Ugh," she told him. "You owe me my usual."

[texted3times]

"Tiny," Eric called out, "remember what Jaina drinks."

[solo_sword]

"Vodka tonic," she said. "I'm easy."

[texted3times]

"That's not how I remember it," replied Eric, who deserved to get smacked.

That got an eyebrow raise out of her, and then she shrugged and said, "I sort of was."

Quick, somebody blame her!

Eric grinned. "I like a challenge?"

"I do remember that," she said. "I do apparently excel at being challenging."

"You excel at everything you put your mind to," Eric told her with a wink.

Jaina smiled, and said, "You know what, I needed this today."

Eric grinned. "Well, we are having a torrid affair." He took a sip from his drink. "But you're welcome."

"I was a cat till second period," she explained.

Eric snorted. "Really? And I missed it?"

[solo_sword]

"I wasn't exactly going out," she said.

Because she was tiny. So, so tiny.

"Have you never seen me as a cat before?"

"I'm trying to remember," Eric admitted.

[solo_sword]

"It's possible you haven't," she said. "It was more of a high school thing. Thankfully."

"And I didn't know that well when you were in high school."

He might have a kill count in the thousands, but he wasn't a complete creep.

"I didn't meet you until a couple of years after it," she said. "Or, I think less than a year after it? There was a lot of weird time stuff going on with me then."

"And it was a looooong time ago," Eric said, teasing.

[solo_sword]

"You're one to talk," Jaina said dryly.

Eric smirked. "I am, indeed, very old."

[solo_sword]

"The last..." She winced, and said, "I'm not even going to say how long is just a drop in the bucket for you."

"Sort of, yes," Eric admitted.

[solo_sword]

"That'd be depressing if I didn't know how unforgettable I am."

(It was still a little depressing.)

"You are completely unforgettable," Eric said, momentarily sincere and entirely focused on her.

She smiled, just a tiny bit, but she also didn't need to make things serious today. So she asked lightly, "Are we making this sappy?"

"God, no," Eric said with a smirk. "I'm a Viking."

"I'm sure some Viking at some time has gotten mushy," she teased.

"And then we murdered him for the good of all," Eric told her, nodding.

[solo_sword]

"Totally believable," Jaina lied.

"I thought so," Eric said, smirking.
