Trooper Station, Wednesday - 9/3

The weirdness of the first couple of days seemed way more manageable now that Danny was dealing with phone calls about sentient, snow monsters attacking people at random. On the plus side, he wasn't a teenage. On the downside, the troopers all were.

This meant Danny was fielding all the calls as they were busy playing paper football or whatever the weird, space equivalent to that was.

"--Just stay indoors, okay?" Danny said, pinching the bridge of his nose to keep from shouting at people for going out and then complaining about how the snow was out to get them.

"Brah," a teenager with very familiar eyes and an aloha shirt yelled, bursting into the station. "Brah! The snow is, like, super pissed off out there."

His father was a police officer and so Steve felt like this might be the best place to go for help.

"Yes, we are aware." We meaning Danny. Who was... holding down the fort here. "Thank you, Steven."

"You're welcome--" Steve blinked. "Did my dad tell you about me?"

"...yes," Danny settled on with an expression that would have told the older Steve a lot of how he felt about that question. "How about you have a seat?"

"Am I in trouble?" Steve asked.

[hatesparadise]

"What?" Danny said, looking up. "No. I need people on the phones."

Sorry, Steve. But it kept you out of harm's way when Danny needed to be grumpy and go out and check on things.

"What are they calling about?" Steve asked.

[hatesparadise]

"The snow things," Danny said, waving toward the door. "We just gotta keep people inside."

[grenadesandohana]

"They don't know that already?" asked the teenager who announced his presence by pointing out the snow things.

Danny shot him A Look for that like Steve already had the answer to that question. He already had it.

[grenadesandohana]

"I'm going to tell them to throw coffee at them," Steve said.

[hatesparadise]

"Fine," he sighed. "Specify hot, please."

Because, let's be real about the general public here, folks.

"I think if they get eaten by a snow monster after throwing an ice coffee, they deserve it," Steve said.

[hatesparadise]

"I don't disagree, but that's not the job," Danny replied.

[grenadesandohana]

"What happens if you do lose against them?" Steve asked. "Do you know?"

[hatesparadise]

"Hopefully, you just get cold. But let's keep the losing to a minimum, yeah?"

That was not an opportunity to find out, Steve.

"I can go find out?"

Steve was always Steve.

[hatesparadise]

"Nuh-uh!" Danny said, pointing at Steve's desk. "Butt in seat. Got it?"

Steve wasn't going to roll his eyes at this adult he didn't really know, but his expression said he really wanted to.
