The Devil's Nest, Monday Night

Eric had slept through the beautiful day, but Tiny hadn't and so Tiny was in a great mood. He was mixing up apple-themed drinks, and Eric gave them a long, appraising look before declaring, "I'll allow it."

The Devil's Nest was open and cautiously embracing autumn.

"I don't think there'll ever be a time again that I'm not glittery," Jaina announced as she took her seat.

"Not in this lifetime," Eric agreed. "I found some in my bed and I didn't even go outside."

"It's insidious," she said, shaking her head. "Meanwhile there was a glitter fight in my house."

"Of course there was," Eric said, laughing.

"They've been spending time cleaning it all up for two days now," she said.

"They'll never be finished," Eric predicted. "Vodka soda?"

"Please. Unless whatever Tiny's doing is worth trying," she said, trying to get a better look.

"The appletini is not terrible and also not horrifyingly green," Eric offered.

"Not terrible and not horrifying sounds like a ringing endorsement," she said. "Let's try it."

Tiny's entire and enormous face lit up. "You've made his night," Eric said.

"It probably helps to stay on his good side," she said, and added, "occasionally."

Eric smirked. "It's a better use of his talents than garnish sculptures."

"As long as he's not taking hints from Tino and trying to do bar tricks," she said.

"I'm afraid to ask a follow up," Eric said. "But...what bar tricks?"

"Flipping shakers that he probably drops, trying to pour into towers of glasses..."

He could probably imagine how well it went.

Eric winced, then pointed at Tiny. "No," he said emphatically.

"We had to keep a broom on hand," Jaina said helpfully.

"To beat Tino with?" Eric asked hopefully.

"No, though now I wish I had," she said.

"It might've stopped his bullshit a lot faster," Eric said.

"Have you met him?" Jaina countered.

"Against my will, but yes," Eric said, "and you have a point."

"Still, I might suggest the broom going forward."

If only the Caritas post wasn't up.

"I'll bring it for Three Minute Dates," Eric said.

"You're going?" Jaina asked, and then said, "Of course you're going."

"Good luck," she told him. "I might check it out, maybe."

"Or you can meet up for drinks afterward," Eric said. "Hopefully Tino will be in a normal mood."

Doubtful.

"Doubtful," she said wryly. "Jag's trying to get here over the weekend so it'll depend on if I need an even number that."

"Make him do it too," Eric said unhelpfully.

"I'm sorry that would go over really well," she said, amused. "It's actually not far off from what he has to do at diplomatic events."

"I'd be extremely nice to him if he were one of my dates," Eric promised.

He'd shamelessly hit on him.

"Don't try to sleep with my husband," she said, but again, amused.

"No promises," Eric said with a wink.
