Trooper Station, Friday

There were banana peels all over the station today. Not the bananas themselves, just the peels, scattered across the floor. Watts had darted and weaved his way to his office, but the Troopers were taking this as an opportunity to work on their pratfalls, stepping on and therefore slipping on the peels on purpose.

At least they had body armour?

"Good," Steven said. He portioned the soup out into bowls, making sure Llewellyn got extra noodles. "I thought your sourdough would go best with it. Hope that's all right?"

"More than all right," Watts said. "It's- I like that you enjoy it enough to consider optimal pairings."

[hasaknightjob]

Steven smiled proudly. "I thought the flavors balanced nicely."

[pocketpretzels]

"I trust your judgement, but look forward to trying for myself," Watts said. "Though first, I must try the soup unadulterated." And so he scooped up a spoonful and swallowed it, making a noise of approval as he did so.

"Good?" Steven checked. "Not too hot?"

[pocketpretzels]

"Good," Watts assured him. "Not bad at all."

[hasaknightjob]

"Wonderful!" Steven said. He went ahead and dipped his bread into his soup, since he already knew what the soup tasted like. "How have things been here? Besides slippy?"

"Somewhat glittery," Watts informed Steven, following suit with dipping the bread, making an approving nod at the combination.

"Seems that'll be going for a while," Steven said. "At least it's not in the food?"

Though having said that Steven peered down in his bowl to confirm that indeed it wasn't.

"A good point," Watts said. "As I do not think it is meant to be eaten."

"Can't imagine it tastes good," Steven said. Though he was, in fact, attempting to imagine tasting it right now. Perhaps he would feel differently if he knew about the edible kind.

"Like plastic, I'd imagine," Watts said, making something of a face.

"Or metal," Steven said. He looked thoughtful. "Do you know I don't actually know what it's made of?"

"I just assumed plastic," Watts admitted. "So many things are, in this time."

[hasaknightjob]

"Highly likely," Steven agreed. He dipped his bread into his soup again. "Anything in particular you'd care to do this weekend? Besides the usual?"

Watts looked thoughtful. "Perhaps a bicycle ride?" he suggested. "It's something we haven't done in a while."

[hasaknightjob]

Steven brightened. "That'd be lovely. With a picnic as well?"

[pocketpretzels]

"Oh, without a doubt," Watts said, nodding.

[hasaknightjob]

"London or here?" Steven asked. 'Here' in this case meaning America, not the island specifically.

[pocketpretzels]

"Here, I think, if you don't mind?" Watts suggested.

[hasaknightjob]

"Don't mind at all," Steven said. "Must admit I rather miss the place, being in London long as we were."

Only over a week, but still.

[pocketpretzels]

Watts nodded, because that had been the motivation behind his choice as well. "I'm sure we could find a nice park in Maryland somewhere with a trail."

"I think that would be lovely," Steven said. "Saturday or Sunday?"

[pocketpretzels]

"Sunday, I think?" Watts mused. "So we don't feel rushed coming back."

Sure, sure, portals meant technically they could come back only minutes after they'd left, but there was still the issue of they would have been awake for several hours at that point, rather than going out after a nice, leisurely lie-in.

"Marc has no plans," Steven said. Which was unfortunately par for the course right now, but on the other hand after their schedule being taken over by Khonshu no plans was comparatively preferable. "So Sunday's all right."
