Luke's Diner; Tuesday [09/23].
There was quite the debate going on in the kitchen that day. Ignis was staunchly avoiding participating with his own opinions, but he was rather enjoying the heated discourse between which nomenclature was preferred when it came to calling it an eggplant or calling it an aubergine. Eventually, the debate seemed to have settled down into a compromise that took context into consideration, and, just as everyone seemed to be quite over it and ready to focus on their work once more, Ignis couldn't help himself in gently offering:
"And now what about courgettes?"
There was a long pause, one in which he imagined the other staff members were just taking a second to gauge their fellows' response, before the next debate got started in a spirited second wind.
And Ignis was just going to grin into his coffee while trying to think of the next one to throw into the mix.
Today's Specials
Lemon Garlic Butter Steak with Zucchini Noodles
Vegan Burger with Baba Ganoush and Zucchini Chips
Melanzane al Cioccolato
Luke's is open!

Ah. So he was causing problems on purpose. Liliana could only approve.
"So is it arugula?" she asked as she strolled further inside, "Or rocket?"

And as she entered and assessed the situation, the grin on Ignis's face grew more evident, both for Liliana's arrival and having set aside his mug before moving to meet her. Freeing his hands to find her and draw her in, onky for that lingering greeting kiss to hide it once more.
Little good it did, it was still there and even more prominent, albeit just slightly, when he drew away again.
"An excellent question, my love," he said, "and one I rather wish someone had brought up earlier. I rather enjoy working with that particular ingredient...perhaps a few additions to the board might be made for the afternoon."
no subject
"Yet more proof of how foolish it is for you to leave my side," she purred. "Had you remained with me in bed this morning, you would have had all the rockets one could wish."
no subject
Even if that kiss seemed to suggest that later could be now, or, if not, then at the very least, rather soon indeed.
no subject
"I do suppose there's one benefit of you not thinking of it while considering today's specials," she mused, lacing their fingers together.

She leaned in to kiss him again, a light brush of her lips over his. "Do tell me about these others, hmm? I adore explicit details."
no subject
But even as he spoke those words, he was leaning forward, a soft kiss of his own before tilting those lips toward her ear to whisper to her exactly what her might have in mind, to start, and if explicit was what she wanted, then of course, tgat was precisely what he would give her, though still wrapped delicately in the metaphor that started it all, as if with that light peppery bite of the rocket itself, emphasized with the movement of his own free hand, the brush of his fingertips, the drag of his nails, and that low rumbling register of that voice that had only been heard by her and her alone.
no subject
"That sounds truly delicious, my love," she said, voice low and husky in return. "And I find myself quite hungry. Famished, even. It's been far too long since we broke our fast this morning."
Ignis had been very generous with his servings, as always, leaving Liliana satiated and sleepy amidst their sheets as he got ready for work, but that had been hours ago and she had always been a woman of healthy appetites.

There was a moment, however, before he responded, certainly before he drew away, where he brushed a kiss against Liliana's neck and just rooted there, briefly, but deeply, in that new flush that warmed her skin, in tge subtle shift in her familiar scents and the less subtle beating of her heart, the breath on her lips. Barely long enough for there to have been many beats or breaths to count, no matter how quickly they came, and then he was drawing away, and gently pulling her with him, by their interlocked hands.
"Well, then," he said, "let's not leave you suffering so needlessly in that persistent hunger any longer."
no subject
A true concern? Ridiculous. But why pass up an opportunity to stoke those fires a little higher, hmm?
no subject
Through the door now, he stopped, to pull Liliana in again to kiss her in a way that would leave no doubt to the state of his own famished desire.
"You know," he then murmured, "how insatiable my hunger truly is."
Emphasized now with her lower lip between his teeth and one word to hold multitudes:
"Always."
no subject
Wait, no. Something wasn't quite right.
She plucked off his glasses, tucking them carefully away into her pocket and then continued, now that she could see his face. "I never question."
Not truly. As a bid to have him say so or show it, of course! But it had never been in doubt, not since they'd begun this dalliance and certainly not since it had deepened into love and devotion.
"I never could. You'd never let it happen."
Liliana's ego was already disinclined to question the existence of someone's desire for her. Even so, Ignis removed any doubt long before her ego needed to be involved.
