Cafe Fina - Saturday
It was Prompto’s birthday and this year they were able to go back to Cafe Fina after a couple of years of not being able to go there. Liz was just glad that they were able to go and celebrate, especially with the due date getting closer.
Noctra was spending the weekend with Uncle Hellboy at the BPRD since they still had limited options for babysitting with everyone still away on the school trip.
She got as comfortable as she could in the chair and looked fondly over at Prompto, “happy birthday,” she smiled, “what do you think you’re going to order?” She asked after they were handed their menus.
[for the husband!]

And it wasn't my even that peaceful, because with the due date looming so close now, he couldn't help be a little (okay, a lot) nervous that something could happen at any moment.
Tonight, though, he was going to try to just enjoy his birthday dinner (yes, he'd also enjoyed his annual Sad Lonely Birthday Cupcake out of tradition that morning), tried to put the idea of singing cutlery needing to deliver his baby out of his mind, and grinned broadly at Liz across the table.
"Same thing I always order," he declared. "Whatever my finger lands on at random!"
Well, probably not, but he still loved making that joke, calling back to their first date here, another lifetime ago.

"I should get, like, a bug old steak or some fancy burger or something," he said. "Since it is my birthday."
Just. You know. Maybe not too big...

Somewhere in the Maldives, he was sure Gladio was approving. Ignis, probably not so much.
But it didn't really matter what either of them though, or even Liz for that matter, because it was his birthday (although, technically....well, let's not get into that), but what Liz thought about it did actually matter, and not just because she was sitting right in front of him. He then took a moment to actually examine the question itself: what would he prefer more?
"...burger," he said, almost immediately after he was serious about it, and then he laughed. "Definitely a burger. I mean, come on! It's classic!"
And, to be honest, steak was just big hunks of meat, and he'd had plenty of those, but a burger? Now that was a artform.

Underneath the table, his knee started to bounce a little, that nervousness he'd had bundled up over the upcoming due date loosening and slipping out a little. He tried not to let himself get too wound up in it, but it was hard, when it was just right there and getting closer and closer and closer. It should be fine, of course, just like it had been with Noctra, but he had been pretty nervous then, too! Maybe more so, because he didn't know what to expect, but he also didn't feel like having gone through it before once already was helping ease his anxieties.
And he wasn't even the one having the baby! It was impossible to not feel a rush of admiration for everything Liz was able to manage in all this, some of his nervousness slipping away into a soft, grateful smile.
"Not that that's a bad thing," he added softly. "I'm really looking forward to it, but, man..." He laughed. "I'm gonna miss sleeping again."

Meanwhile, Prompto was hoping that exact thing would be a secret ally when it came to the potty training game.
"But that," he admitted, "is not the best point to make right before a meal..."
