Ching Tai, Thursday evening

it was Christmas Day. Which of course Steven and Llewellyn did not celebrate as others did. But that didn't mean they didn't honor the 25th day of December in other ways.

Namely sitting down at Ching Tai for a lovely Chinese dinner.

"Mushroom dumplings look a treat," Steven told Llewellyn.

[open restaurant is open, though with SP caveat for the holiday]

Watts nodded. "Some soup, too, I think."

"Something with noodles?" Steven suggested. "I know it's not anyone's new year but feels appropriate all the same."

"Noodles have a certain coziness to them," Watts agreed.

"Cozy is the way to go to be sure," Steven said. "Spring rolls as well?"

"Would it be a proper meal without them?" Watts asked.

Steven considered it, then grinned. "It is winter. Perhaps we're being unusual to insist on spring."

"Steven Grant."

"Winter rolls!" Steven declared, far too proud of himself.

"Absolutely incorrigible," Watts shook his head.

[hasaknightjob]

"I wonder what would be in them?" Steven said, now charmed by the idea. "Would it be things you can still access in winter? Hardier vegetables and the like? Or would it be more the idea of winter? Things that feel cool to eat, like mint?"

Watts wrinkled his nose as he thought about that. "I'm not sure I'd care for a mint-flavoured roll," he admitted.

"I was thinking more as part of a dessert," Steven explained. "Perhaps with ice cream or something?"
