Harley had been kinda busy as of late. With what? Hey! Mind your own beeswax! Although it mighta-coulda had something to do with the mighty fancy looking ring she was wearing on her pinky, a little bit of a departure from her usual costume jewelry bric-a-brac.

Also there were like stacks of cash up in the apartment, but that was not for anyone to see and certainly not for anyone to tell any authorities about! Parting assholes from their money was practically a public service, anyhow.

Anyway, she was back minding the store that Friday. Or she was skating around the inside of the store on a pair of fetching 1970s roller blades that had just come in, but whatever, it counted!

Hopefully someone would drop by before she got any bright ideas about taking the skates for a spin out on the notoriously cobble stoned and stair-y Fandom streets.

Rey was here partially to see what might be new in the store, but mostly because she hadn't talked to Harley in a bit.

And when she saw her, Rey had to say, "New shoes?"

(Yes, she knew what they were.)

"Yeah!" Harley enthused at her, because she was not the sort of person to care about petty details like the shoe/skate divide. She did a little twirl in place, and it was obvious from the smoothness of the execution that it was not her first time roller blades, either. "With wheels!"

Yes, Rey could see that.

"You're pretty good on those," Rey noted, impressed. She knew what they were, but she hadn't really seen them used.

"Thanks! I used to be real good a beatin' people up on them!"

That was both a misrepresentation of her past hobbies and also somehow accurate.

"You can beat people up on those?"

Imagine a lightsaber-wielder on skates. Imaging it.

"Yeah!" she said. "It's called roller derby and it's the best sport there is!" Again, not entirely accurate, but close enough. "Consensual violence!"

Not always, the way she did it.

Harley would never be given a lightsaber. She could maybe steal one. Not Rey's.

"It makes total sense that you would do this," Rey said with a smile.

"Right?" Harley replied, grinning. She did another twirl, and this time only narrowly avoided knocking something right off the counter - not because of a lack of skill, but because of a lack of care. "I got real big into it when me and Mr. J were callin' it quits," she added. "I mean, only therapy is therapy but lemme tell ya, it felt really therapeutic at the time, that's all I can say."

"Been there. In different ways," Rey said. Give it some time and she'd be there again! "Do you not do the derby thing anymore?"
