Spring Formal 2026, Community Center, Friday Evening

Any plans for a spring-ish theme for this dance had been scrapped at the beginning of the week. Instead, the community center was draped in winter decorations - cool blue and silver draperies, glittery snowflakes hanging from the ceiling, cardboard standups of snowmen, tinsel on every flat surface - all giving a general sense to stay calm and chill.

It probably wouldn't work, but at least there was an attempt.

The smartest thing to do would have been to skip the formal entirely. Maybe live in a bathtub full of ice or something.

Instead, Arden had elected to not only attend the formal, but also to wear the dress that her this-week-brain had insisted was the best--nay, the only possible--choice.

Monday, Bellamy was going to get a stern text about enabling her. Probably.
