Chilly Boulder, Saturday Afternoon

Seeing mom was nice.

Complicated, but nice.

And then she'd fucked off for the afternoon for reasons Dante was pretty sure were related to somebody else running around the island. That was fine too.

Though after about five minutes, Dante'd gotten restless, and now he was here, slumped in a booth at Chilly Boulder's with two sundaes in front of him. He was picking at one of them slowly. Yeah, they were probably going to melt on him if he didn't pick it up.

But hey, that just meant rushing it at the end for a shot of adrenaline. Or something. Fuck if he had a plan.

Wow, funnily enough Sarah was also at loose ends for a few hours. What a crazy random happenstance! And, yeah, she'd made some noises about spending the time catching up on the newest k-pop and k-dramas, but those didn't last much past Kathy leaving their hotel room.

Nope, as soon as she was sure her unni wasn't going to doubleback to grab something she'd forgotten or try to convince Sarah one more time that she was welcome to join them for lunch, she was up and out the door herself.

Sarah Lin Li was a teen on a mission.

...In truth, it hadn't been a really hard mission. After all, she'd met Dante before and also, there was one place Kathy was avoiding like it was her job. She wasn't the math genius her sister was, but even she could add those numbers up.

And lo and behold, there he was. Exactly as expected.

Well, maybe not exactly.

"Well, don't you look like three miles of bad road," she sniffed.

"All the nice got used up on Kathy," Sarah declared, inviting herself into his booth. "Leaving me with the attitude. But hey, at least it keeps me from getting walked all over."

Well. Kept was probably the proper grammatical choice there. Oh well.
