Spike's Pub is Open

Loz opened the doors and turned on the sign to indicate Spike's was open. Yazoo turned the chairs and stools right and straightened the table while Kadaj prepped the bar.

They didn't know whether to expect a big crowd or not. Something was going on at the campus though. So the brothers just prepared the Pub for a Friday night.

Tex blinks and looks confused at Geoff. She loves her armour, but this is a bit much. "Yeah, I'm sure."

Letting go of her hand, Geoff shakes his head and waves her toward a chair. "Join me, if you like. I have to say, manners must have got pretty bad through the years, judging by the reactions I've been getting lately."

Tex pulls back a chair and sit down. "Soldiers aren't know for their manners," she replies, but then smirks. "Actually, we probably are known for a lack of them. I never did wipe my feet when I broke into a base."

"Now, madame, having been acquainted with more than a few soldiers, I know that's entirely untrue." Taking his seat, Geoff leans his elbows on the table and grins at Tex.

"Sure, you have some with a stick up their ass." Tex gives in and looks around for Yazoo to get another drink.

Geoff gives Yazoo a look that says he'll pay for the drink. "You remind me a little bit of my friend Shane. She doesn't believe in mincing words either."

[identity profile] freelancerchick.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
"Shane," Tex nods slowly. "I've met her. I think she mentioned you and your coat. I'll have to disappoint you, though, I'm nothing like her."

"She mentioned my coat?" Geoff laughs. "She would. And I'm not disappointed, my lady. I'd get no enjoyment out of people all being exactly like another."

"I asked if you had armour, she said you have a coat." Tex shrugs and frowns a little. "I suppose not."

Geoff shakes his head, still laughing a bit. "No, I'm not the armor type. That would've been-- a friend of mine." He cocks his head and looks at Tex. "Although I suppose, if you want to get introspective, the coat is a type of armor."

[identity profile] freelancerchick.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
Tex raises an eyebrow and eyes the coat. She can't see it stop a lot of bullets. "How so?"

"Psychological armor. Everyone has something they can hide themselves behind, that helps them project the sort of image they want others to see."

[identity profile] freelancerchick.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
"It isn't going to do you much good when you're facing..." she pauses and shrugs, still thinking this whole thing is just weird, "zombies."

[identity profile] geoff-chaucer.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
"No," he agrees, laughing. "It isn't. But then, it isn't meant to be that kind of armor. Personally, I'd as soon avoid the zombie issue altogether, and not worry about what sort of armor I'd need."

"Not everyone has the luxury," Tex says with a smile and gets to her feet, she puts money for her drinks and a tip on the table. "I'll leave you to your writing," she says with a nod and puts on her helmet before leaving.

"True enough, my lady." Geoff stands as well, echoing her polite nod. "It was a pleasure."
