After a busy day, Veronica heads down and makes sure everything is in place for a hopefully busy night at work.

She flips the sign to open and waits for people to show up.

Buffy was feeling pretty down and the last time she had sang here, she had felt a little better. Of course, this time, she had some extra courage since she had had a shot of Corellian whiskey before coming in.

She took to the stage and the band started on the music for the song that seemed to fit tonight.

From out of nowhere, a water balloon flies at Buffy.

Buffy ducks and turns. Her Slayer senses let her knowsthe attack was coming. The ballon was what was unexpected. She shakes her head and goes to sit again.

Lilly storms into the bar, and she does not look pleased. And her hands might smell just a little bit like lighter fluid.

"I need a drink!" she exclaims in a surprisingly unfeminine growl.

"What's wrong?" Veronica asks, automatically pouring a double shot of tequila and sliding it in front of her friend with a salt shaker and a slice of lime.

"I was dumped. ME. DUMPED. These are two concepts that shouldn't even exist in the same universe!" she grumbles, taking the shot and then continuing to talk with the lime in her mouth.

"Sub od ah bitch!"

"You got dumped? By Rover? What happened?"

Veronica grabs the empty glass and pours another double shot. Lilly's dead, so it's not like the liquor can damage her liver, right?

"That duty called, or something like that. And that his time here was enjoyable and fulfilling. You're damn right it was! The big ball of... of shit," she sputters, "I certainly was responsible for a good deal of his enlightenment."

Lord knows what she means by that. She tosses back shot number two.

"I'm sure you were, Lilly. But, didn't you tell me that you hadn't even heard from him in a while? or did you tell allie and i'm getting confused?"

"Yeah, but I figured he was off... rolling about on a mission, or holding someone hostage, like usual. I mean, he came back to leave a note but couldn't even say Goodbye Lilly or even gO0db4ye lil7y?"

"Ugh, I just want to... DEFLATE HIM!"

Piper wandered into Caritas specifically to see Veronica. She hadn't really gotten a chance to talk to her since she returned from New York. "Hey, Veronica."

Grateful for a brief respite from Lilly's ranting, Veronica smiled. "Hey, Piper. How's it going?"

"I feel like I haven't seen you in ages," Piper said, obviously exaggerating.

"I know. And I was only gone for a couple days," she said, grinning. "Did I miss anything while I was gone?"

"I want to hear all about your trip," Piper said. "But I need to tell you something first."

Veronica noticed that Piper's tone was serious. "What's up?"

"It's about Phoebe," Piper began. "Before I tell you what happened, just know that she's okay."

She took a deep breath before continuing. "She was attacked on Friday... by demons. They found out she was a witch and... Like I said she will be okay, thankfully."

Piper was close to tears just talking about it. "I was so scared."

Veronica blanched. "She was attacked by demons?" She immediately flashed back to the time Belthazor almost killed her. Her hands started shaking. "But she's okay?"

"Yeah, but her leg's kinda messed up. She has to use a wheelchair for a while." Piper sighed. "I'm so glad she's okay. I don't know what I would do if I lost her, you know?"
